    Hey Sheep! Answer this!

Ok great, now that I've got the entire herd here, lemme ask you a question....

If Sammy Hagar were to walk out on stage at any given Music Video awards show with the remaining 3 members of the original Van Halen before they announced this last 'reunion' (lol), do you think that the record execs, VJs, DJs, fellow musicians and fans would give them the standing ovation that they got when Diamond Dave reunited with them in 1996?

    .....yeah.....that's what I thought....

Nope, never. But do you think if VH did it with Dave now it would get the same fanfare it did in '96? Hell do you think anyone in the MTV crowd would even know who they are anymore?

Totally, and that's the sad truth of how shitty the music industry is.

Well probably not, but then again you can't really say for sure unless something actually happens.

man 1996 was the tail end of real rock and roll!

No way in hell anyone outside of the rock and vh community would know who vh/dlr is, nor would they give a fuck..and thats the sad part.

If they vanished for a year or two, got their shit together, then walked out on stage and said "Surprise! Alright - we made it work - new album will be out in the stores NEXT MONTH - be seeing you on tour!" and then walked off the stage, I think it'd turn more than just a few heads.

Van Halen had a second shot at the big time in 1996, creating music that would still matter and be played on the radio 20 years down the line.

You'd think with Ed being out of action for so long, that there would have been a lot more media attention focused on the band this year. Hell, this reunited Van Hagar put out three new songs and toured for the first time in nine or ten years.

Virtually nil outside of the usual suspects (Guitar World and some perfunctionary concert reviews in local newspapers when the band limped into town).

In 1996, only two new songs and a walk-on at a televised award show.........not even one live performance, mind you.............and the media and fans were whipped into a frenzy that took years to die down.

Think several of these posts got it spot-on. Too much time has passed and nobody even cares anymore. Can't even say as I'd be all that excited if classic VH got together now.

Rock IS and WILL make a comeback. Thats a given. Hell even Kansas stations are starting to feature more Classic Rock, and what they say about Kansas is true... (You have now entered Kansas, please set your clocks back 20 years...) What remains to be seen is whether or not Classic Van Halen will be there to usher real music back into the limelight where it belongs. It seems to me that many of the true blue Dave or the Gravers have given up hope for this to occur.

Ed put out a shitty, sorry excuse for a VH record and then disappeared for 6 years when things didn't go his way. Only to return to poop on his audience again. Is he too drunk to play tuba?

I don't think Ed is going to get another chance.

Personally, I think Ed's finished. The radio has shown that their true allegiance goes with classic Van Halen. Good Van Halen. But whether anyone will accept the original line-up as the saviors of rock...no. That chance was missed in 1996.
