    At least

With Gary, they were playing more old songs. The set list on the VHIII tour was better than the set list on this tour.

That's because Cherone actually has a similar vocal style to Dave. He COULD actually sing these songs-Spammy, on the other hand...

Ga y Cherone actually respected what came before him...much like Brian Johnson with AC/DC. so i will give him that. but Spermmy is just a fucking lying asshole. and yes, it's outright lying. not just exagerating. that shit head has taken it way beyond that. it's just downright lying.

Tolerate Cherone? Nothin' wrong with him. He grew up on Classic VH. He opened for Dave. Was offered the spot to be the lead singer for VH. No problem at all with him. He's the single most successful ROTH FAN there is, period. He made it happen. He lived his dream. The ONLY reason, I repeat the ONLY reason that Gary sang Spammy songs in 98 was due to Ed & Al's request, and even then, there was only ONE token song from each of the Spam albums, not including Balance. If you really wanna hear what Cherone's really capable of doing, I would STRONGLY advise listening to anything from Extreme's first self-titled album, and even the rest of 'Pornagraffiti' aside from "More Than Words".

I actually have the first 3 Extreme albums (Extreme/Pornograffitti/3 Sides to Every Story), and I actually like them a lot. I did buy 'Waiting For The Punchline', but I didn't like it, so I gave it away. I also bought the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for their performance more than enybody else's-despite me being quite a big Queen fan-because I knew that their performance (a classic Queen medley in the afternoon and Gary joined the remainding members of Queen later on for 'Hammer To Fall') was very good.Excellent, in fact. I'm actually not too keen on More Than Words, and actually prefer songs like 'Decadence Dance' or 'When I'm President'. When I said 'can you tolerarte Gary Cherone?' I was only commenting on his Van Halen 3 performance, not the tour, the album. That is all.

I'm a big fan of Gary Cherone/First 2 Extreme Albums, saw them once live in a small Toronto metal club called 'Rock N Roll Heaven' just after Pornograffiti came out, and also saw them open for DLR on his ALAE tour. I also saw VH3 tour, and loved it. If the VH Bros. are too stupid to properly appreciate Dave, then I say, at least hire a Roth fan, which they did with Cherone. Cherone ain't no Hagarita, he's THE MOST successful Rothaholic there is today. The album VH3 was underrated, as was the tour, but I admit that I was disappointed with VH3 because if you listen to Extreme's first 2 albums, then VH's first 2 albums, that forecast would've made VH3 a smoking hot, funky metal album! I never considered Cherone a replacement, but rather a 'Hire A Roth Fan For An Album And Tour' deal.

All I know is on the VHIII tour they played 'Mean Street' live, and that one song kicks so much ass it was worth the price of the ticket alone! That plus 'Unchained' - 2 songs from Fair Warning! Awesome!

I hate them both as singers. The rest I could care less about.

Sammy is a terrible singer. I can't bear his voice. It grinds into my ear like a drill bit. His lyrics are worse than childish, because they are lazy. And that may be his worst failure - to take an established act that was on it's way to legendary status and approach the serious job of writing the lyrics with a "the hell if I care" attitude. Sam, you're fired - too bad it didn't stick.

Gary Cherone (at least as a member of Van Halen) brought nothing new to the table in his singing. In fact, he has the same raspy screech as Sam, but with a more limited range. As a result, his singing greatly resembles white noise introduced into the music. He tried to write better lyrics, but half of them where not easily deciphered, and the rest where "trying too hard."

But at least he had a reasonable appearance. Sure his prancing was a little gay - but what could be worse that Sammy - now a filthly looking fat guy with disgusting hair and clown clothes.

Hey Eddie - you may not rememeber - but you guys used to be cool back in the day. This guy is making a joke of your legacy, and also calling you taste, judgement and talent into serious question because.... you don't seem to get it - Sammy sucks.
