Van Halen 1: Rs Hall Of Fame Review 5 *****

The November 25th 2004 issue.Page 95, The HALL OF FAME cd review.

Best line, "Rumor has it that Van Halen have continued in recent years with a new lead singer, but since their 1985 breakup, nobody involved has ever recaptured that spontaneous cheeseburger magic."
Refering to a story about DAVE needing a joint, a coke, and a cheeseburger in his system to be able to nail his vocals!

First time I EVER remember RS giving CLASSIC VAN HALEN props. The fact that they wouldn't even mention ANY other incarnation of the band speaks volumes. They know. DAVE IS VAN HALEN.

WOW!! I'm impressed. Must be a new writing staff putting more influence in.

Maybe this means we'll see the beginning of a newfound respect for Van Halen in the years to come. After all, they're more nostalgia, and with that comes respect for the glory days.

Maybe we'll have DVDs, a CLASSIC ALBUMS special on 1984, Top 10 album lists...

Wait a minute, this is Van Halen. Their most important job these days is to destroy their careers. Sorry. Forgot about that.

I've never been a big fan of Van Halen but there's something about that first album that hits you right between the eyes and well as between the legs and I think a lot of that goes to Roth. Granted, he wasn't a good singer or songwriter but he didn't need to be to make you feel good about listening to rock and roll.

Rolling Stone acts like the anti-establisment rock magazine it used to be for a moment with this VH article which is saying a lot these days before it went mostly Hollywood, bland & mainstream.

I can't believe that's from RS... I've never read a review in that mag of anything good... This is a stellar thread... Matt strikes again!!

I wonder what their original review was like. They didn't get many 5-star reviews when the stuff was new, as far as I remember...

You are obviously LOST, and in more ways than one.

That, or you can get lost.

Not one 5-star review, I believe. ROLLING STONE sucks worse than an Avril Lavigne fanzine. That's why I'm so surprised by this review.

Since we're in the subject of Rolling Stone...

What the fuck is that at the headstock? A joint?

Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?
