Does anybody like or care about him? He is just as much a part of the band as the others. He always seemed like a cool guy to me.

From what I've seen / heard / read... Mikey seems to be a bit of a Spam lover... and I guess a little spineless to not be able stand up to the sisters (maybe for fear of his job) ...
Apart from that he doesn't really bother me... now where the fck is that Alice ?Go home the Earth is full....Comment

When I met him in '98 for an autograph, he seemed nice enough, asked me what I thought of VH3, my reply was of course, Where's the Bass?
But anyway, even Spammy confirmed on his site, Michael follows, never leads. The most 'leading' thing he's done is open his own site.
He follows Ed and Al, follows Spam right up his a**.
What would be TOTALLY COOL is if Mikey would give Ed, Al & Spammy the finger, then ask Dave what it would take to join his band.
haha yeah.....that would be cool.....!!!
Of course, that would also mean that Mikey would have to apologize for all the Sheep Sh** he said in interviews against Dave while following the VH Bros. and Spammy.Last edited by DLR_EngineRoom; 11-08-2004, 08:23 PM.Comment

A medium talent on bass within the context of the Van Halen songs (am being generous here, though there is something to be said for an economy of notes.......if this was born out of design or a limited technical ability I can't say), a Spinal Tap bassist in terms of live soloing minus the humor, background vocals were an essential part of classic Halens sound, definitely parroted Ed, Al and Sam re: remarks on Dave in the press (funny how he wanted to play with Roth on the 2002 tour, though. must annoy him when he hears Dave still referring to him as "the bass player"). Probably prefers hanging around with Hagar over Dave because Sam will give Mike the time of day, whereas Roth will tell him to go find a clock ("I don't look like no Big Ben here, I say..........")
Tend to give him more of a pass in terms of Van Halen's pussified direction immediately prior to and after Roth's 1985 departure, mostly because it's evident that he had little to no input on the compositions. Never did, never will.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

There was also an interview (or 2) with Eddie in the 80's saying Mike's minimalist playing was deliberate to give Ed the space he needed. A Billy Sheehan prolly wouldn't have worked - so I guess I can't be too critical of his playing.... except the bloody bass solos!!!Go home the Earth is full....Comment

Mikey is a wimp... he gets shit on by the sisters for 30 years, and doesn't say anything except "deeper! deeper!" He's the main proponent for Hagar's return to VH. For that, I could give a fuck about him. He ain't that great a player, is a wimp, and a fuckin' tool on top of it. Might be a nice guy personally, but that's neither here nor there cuz he helped Hagar return... so he can take a hike.If you listen to fools

He's just a little out of place in Van Halen ( not now, he fits right in now ) he just looks uncool, plus he's not that great a bass player. I found this on http://www.vanhalen.comDon't need a gun to blow your mind!
