I'm a bourbon guy, but have to agree that Sam's stuff isn't by any means swill, especially his high end (forget the sub handle)... having said that, they gouge on the retail big time for what it is.

Bend over, Sammy wants to Cabo Wabo you one time...

I don't know how he ever got it on the racks in PA's comunist LCB, but the shit is way too pricey. I can't imagine who would be a regulalr customer.

You know what the funny thing is about that?

YOU NEED A FUCKIN' RECORD LABEL TO ACTUALLY RELEASE IT!

I guess Alex thinks the fans haven't really kept up on Van Halen affairs, but as of this point, Van Halen does NOT have a record deal.

Based on this tours, ahem, "successes", I don't exactly think the major label offers are going to come rolling (*cough*Sanctuary*cough*), ahh, excuse me...like I was saying, I don't think the major label offers are going to come rolling in...

Yeah. And I like how when Sammy is asked why they won't be releasing an album on a major label right now, he blames the state of the industry.

LOL. Like Classic Van Halen would have trouble finding a major label.

One thing that's good about the state of the industry, Sam, is that it now recognizes that you are shit.

Maybe a label would pick them up if they recorded tonight's and tomorrow night's show and release it as a live album. But they'd have to pipe in the crowd and do "KISS style" studio treatments.

Hahahaha...ask Nelly and Jessica Simson how the "state of the industry" has hurt their record sales...

Fact of the matter is, nobody's interested in a Hagar fronted Van Halen, period. The tour has proved it and the fact that Warner Bros. hasn't made them any offer verifies it.

I'll agree that hard rock is a tough sell right now, but it CAN sell - you just need the right thing to push it. The right thing for Van Halen is David Lee Roth, but since he's content doing the EMT work and the solo stuff, fuck it...who cares?

                Van Halen can suffer.

                  Brilliant post, Nickd!

Sad to say that this year didn't represent the end of the road for Van Halen. They are willing to plod on, convinced they are making progress.

Just when you think the sisters have hit rock bottom and have nowhere to go but up, they break out the mining equipment and find a way to dig a little deeper.

Yes, hard rock can sell. There's still a demand for it if it's good. It has to be really good though to cut through the rap, hip-hop and manufactured pop that's dominating the charts. But, Velvet Revolver, Jet, The Darkness, even the Donnas are proof that a market is still there. And a band with the Van Halen brand name should be packing them in, but apart from an ever-dwindling vocal minority on the internet, NOBODY wanted Sammy back. I still sometimes shake my head over that monumentally stupid decision.

There's a rise in interest amongst young people at the moment in classic rock bands, and I have no doubt that if Classic Van Halen reunited AND did it right they'd sell plenty.

Hey Nick, was that a post or a 'free-for-all-religions' sermon? :D

Ah, who cares, 5 stars for you.
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?
