I've never actually seen a Van Hagar label,but in the good old days songwriting was split four ways(except for covers).I hate to say it,but Van Hagar has made more money than Dave since the split.All that means is that a lot of people have very shitty taste.The question is,who has invested their earnings wisely? I'd say probably Dave.

I know that Roth rented apartments during his time in VH saying that he didn't see a reason for buying a house when he's recording and touring so much. He commented on the other guys buying Rolexes,Lambourghinis and mansions saying he's got his money working for him.

VHagar may have sold more than Dave solo, but Dave keeps 100% of the profits from Dave solo, whereas VHagar profits are split between several people. So Dave probably made more money solo than the VHagar members made individually.

Where did you hear that Axl Rose is worth $350M? Is your source credible? He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would manage/invest his money intelligently.

At the end of the Day I think it comes down to who manages and invests their money the most wisely. While Ed may have made the most due to endorsements, that doesn't matter if he doesn't invest wisely. I would guess Dave is worth 2 to 4 times what the richest guy in VHagar is worth simply because Dave is the most intelligent and as a result he probably kept a lot more of what he made and invested it more wisely.

Although a California mansion is usually a very good investment, imagine what the money required to buy a couple Lamborginis in 1980 would be worth today if invested in a fund averaging 15% returns.

I don't really have any idea. I'd guess they are all well enough off to support their lifestyle but I think saying $100 mil or more is extremely generous. Ozzy, when he married Sharon was broke but she is extremely business savy and he was listed in a mag article I read earlier this year as being worth $52 mil. Paul Mcartney was listed as the richest with an estimated worth of just over $300 mil.
I will say this, in Crazy From The Heat, Dave says he owns a penthouse in New York and of course his Cali home which is worth an easy $5.5 to $6 mil. He also says he has enough poked away to travel the rest of his life, buying a new suit when he gets there and taking care of all the drinks so I'd say he's a very wise guy.

al is the poorest thats for sure,divorce in cali while kill ya and he's had like 3-4 of 'em !!!! dave's dad being rich is not true, dr.roth died within the past coupla years and he didnt leave dave or his 3 sisters millions as somebody posted,according to dave in his auto bio his father was an eye doctor and did ok money wise but by no means were they super rich and daves house in pasedena is worth 7 million, forbes listed the band as selling 1-3 mill back catalog records a year and their total royalties as being 1-5 mill a year . remember also dave said he got screwed by them when they redid their royalty rate,he gets 30 cents and they get a dollar for every cd sold,so if they band sells 3 mill dave era cd's for this year that means dave gets $900,000 and mike ,ed and al get 3 mill bucks!! radio airplay is the same for all of them though (no surprise that it's almost all dave in back catalog sales and radio airplay btw) so i believe mike and dave are comfortable in the 10-20 million range and as for the sisters i would not be surprised if ed has listed al as a dependant on his income tax and lists beer as a work related write-off
