    Dave And Ed 2000

In the last couple of weeks a lot of threads have discussed this story of Dave and Ed rehearsing together in 2000.
I was never sure if this was true ,was there any substance to this and what happened?

      Duh....

but could you be more specific about WHY it didn't work out.

Those three songs they worked on... please tell me we haven't heard them.

Was it really the legal aspect of things that got in the way?

Ed's cancer for one. Dave turned him to his uncle? Jack Roth who is a cancer specialist....They were rumored to have recorded, as Dave put it " 3 amazing, astonishing, the hands fell off the clock" tunes. Ed also blamed the lawyers.

The Fry Cook returned! My guess is the cash split is what is preventing a full scale reunion and/or album. My bet is Dave asked for his fair share(rightfully so) and the VH's said no. Sam is just a hired hand, always has been, and takes whatever they give him.

When Ed "blames the lawyers" what that really means is that Ed offered Dave a shitty deal (e.g. work for wages not profits) and that Dave rejected the offer, requiring 25% of profits to rejoin the band.

Really? So Sam has been working for wages since 1986?

Of course the stupid thing about this is that Ed and Al will make far more money sharing profits with Dave than by paying wages to Sammy. But, of course, Al's huge (and totally unwarranted) ego gets in the way.

Or maybe a better way of putting it is Al's "low self esteem" gets in the way.

Thats the part that sucks about the whole thing. There would be SO MUCH MONEY generated by the return of DLR with a new cd and tour, they could all swim in it till doomsday! 25% a peice WTF!!! That would be about 20 mill, EACH!

...Either way the fans get screwed. No new music at all (w/ Dave) or shitty watered down music with Beavis and Butthead lyrics sung by this dude's twin...

No, but it's generally believed he has been working this tour under that arrangement, while hoping to spur sales of Van Hagar era recordings.

Also Dave has been screwed on the renegotiated record deal (with Warner in 1996) regarding profit sharing for the albums he recorded with VH. He claims to be receiving a third of what the other members get on each CD sold.
