Imagine what those guaranteed numbers would be with Dave! Every corporation from here to eternity would want sponsorship!

Yeah, but who knows how long it will take Ed and Al to go through their $15M each of beer money.

It could take as long as a couple weeks.

The main reason I don't think it will happen is because neither Ed nor Al would ever hand the keys to Van Halen over to David Lee Roth. That's the only way it would ever work and that is precisely where the whole thing is stuck.

I dont think Dave wants "the keys", just involvement. An equal say, if you will.

You're an optimist Carmine and I hope you're right. It needs to happen soon though. Don't you think?

Being a die hard Who fan i said the same thing sfter Entwistle died.I wasnt a fan when Moon died.Too young.I guarantee you if Dave and Ed made ammends and did a project they would call it Van Halen. No offense Mike is an average bass player with a great harmony voice(multi millionare who the fuck am i to critisize).I dont think he is the odd man out here.Ive always liked Alexs drumming especially fair warning but i know this is sacrelige but there are some amazing musicians out there who can make you overlook some musicians in bands.Back to my who reference, for the last 8 years ive been lucky enough to see them live with Zak Starkey on drums. No Keith moon but ill tell you this he brings those songs alive and in some ways i think he is better. Bottom line is Eds state of mind,he wants Dave back he can get him back.I think if he ever sobers up hed pick Dave over his manipulitive sister anyday.
For alex to say the beatles are never getting back together the same way we wont get back with Dave is a sorry ass statement.Eddie Van Halen is a musical genius ,Alex is agood rock drummer who rode his brothers coattails and is obviously in charge of the situation.Has he ever contributed a lyric ?I know i would got a show with Roth and Eddie under the VAN HALEN banner.Alex could die tomoroow and i think your reunion would be closer then it is now unless some major soulsearching happens.

No doubt: Alex is a piece of shit. He's not half the drummer he used to be, either.

We'd like to think that. Most average-minded people would have understood this long ago, but remember we're dealing with Alex Van Halen...

                            He might never get it.

Seriously doubt Hagar was called in 1985 until after Roth left the band. Also doubt Alex had nearly as much control within the band when Roth was in it. The focus and creative spark in classic Van Halen was always on/provided by Dave and Eddie, and all of Al's historical revisionism isn't gonna change that.

Ed and Alex may as well be conjoined twins in terms of their career; neither have the balls to step out on their own with any kind of permanence. The idea of Ed showing Alex the door as a means to enable Ed and Dave to work together just isn't realistic, as much as many here would like to see that happen.

It is interesting from what we heard about 1996 that Alex supposedly wasn't even aware Ed and Dave had been in touch with each other until Al walked into the 5150 studio to see Dave there. Whatever happened in 2000 may have had some shades of 1996 hanging over it in terms of how Ed and Dave approached each other.

Of course Ed and Dave could do something without Al and Mike and it would have a degree of success. Don't think I'd want it to be called Van Halen, though, for many of the same reasons I'm not all that thrilled about Townshend and Daultrey going out billed as the Who, Mick/Keith/Charlie carrying on as the Stones, etc. I'm tired of mutating lineups retaining a band moniker due in part to the safety net of going out under a widely recognized brand name, regardless of how good the music is.

A classic reunion with all four original members participating is highly unlikely. Don't want to say it will never happen anymore, since as long as all four are still breathing there's always a chance. Not even something I'd really want to see anymore anyway. Ed and Dave working without the other two and doing something new sounds far more interesting to me than a reunion, but that scenario is even less likely than a full-blown reunion.

It's no secret that Alice is the main reason behind not only VHs poor decision making - but also their pathetic current state.
