Why is Van Halen the Least Documented Band?

Did you notice there is no vh1 specials on vh...no live dave era cds or dvds...no box sets, no updated books...geez there is still books and other things coming out on the beatles,elvis,zeppelin,etc...van halen catalog is very limited. after all these years there should have been tons of shit released!!...vh is a hall of fame group!!

Thank the sisters for that! They want Dave's legacy BURIED.........that, and they're lazy motherfuckers. I agree with you totally though, it's sad that Dvd releases etc. are being kept from the fans.

Because they've done nothing worth documenting for the last 20

      years.

The issue of Van Halen is still unresolved. They're waiting for "closure."

There is so much unknown about Van Halen's demise...

Perhaps some day we will be treated to the material that does not exist in the vault...

from what i understand, noel monk (former manager) took all the old tapes when he bailed after the split in 85, and that the brothers have been trying to get it back since. thats just what i heard. can't prove it, so consider it a rumor.

I thought I heard that VH1 wanted to do a special on them, but WB prevented it from happening. Or someone in power prevented it from happening.

i dont doubt that VH1 wanted a special. ive always said that a "behind the music" on VH would have to be a 2 hour special. it would also probably be their highest rated BTM. as far as WB not wanting it, who knows. you would have to figure that WB would want it to spark more interest in the band thus maybe driving sales up of the old records. could have been lack of cooperation with the band who might not have wanted to give interviews. if it was around the time eddie was dealing with cancer, he may not have been in the mood. who knows. we may never know actually.
