If Me Wise Magic Was A Cvh Track What Album Would It Be On
"What we've been doing, which is great and certainly cost saving, is I train in the sand pit in McDonald's. I do a few laps. I go through the tunnel a few times. The kids don't mind if I smoke. Plus, when I'm done, lunch is right there."- DLR 2003
As good as those songs are, they are not of the caliber of real Van Halen...
I absolutely and totally agree with ya Elvis.
The only thing on those two songs that fits CVH era sound is Dave's singing and lyrics.....although they could've had a little more "mush-mouth" for my taste :p
Eddie doesn't sound anything like he used to, no matter who the singer is. To me those two songs made me think Eddie was trying to sound like his younger self but forgot how. They wouldn't fit on any CVH album IMO.
I like Van Halen more than Dave's PA Rental.....which means I like Van Halen more than you
Does anyone there see the simularity between cant get this stuff no more and secrets. they sound so much alike. so i would have to say that cant get this stuff no more would be on diver down.
Me wise magic has a simular riff that is heard from time to time on house of pain and has that same heavy tone so i would say me wise magic would be on 1984

Yes, for sure. Some of the chord changes in the verses of CGTSNM are highly reminiscent of the verses in Secrets, and the overall grooves are very similar.

Hmm... CGTSNM on Diver Down and MWM on 1984... that's a pretty good call.

I agree...More because of the lyrical content AND Alex's persistent cymbal riding that is reminiscent of HFT, I'll Wait, and most of thw whole album...

Ouch.

How the fuck would we know if it sounds like something off balance?
Should any of us know what balance sounds like,I can imagine what it sounds like, but I never thought it would sound like songs and stuff.
I can honestly say that the 2 1996 songs sound like DLR era VH songs.
“Why do people say "grow some balls"? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding” ― Betty White
Thinking about it now, the verses of CGTSNM fit on Diver Down pretty well, but the chorus is pretty fucking Van Hagarish, musically. Doesn't fit as well.

Throw in my .02 cents. CGTSNM reminded me of Take your Whiskey Home somewhat, (especially the intro), so I think WACF is a good fit for that. You could argue MWM for a few albums, but I'm going to say Diver Down because I think that the originals that Van Halen mixed in with the covers on DD are some brilliant, well written material, and so is MWM, so maybe Diver Down for MWM. It is hard to pinpoint with MWM, but I know that we can all agree that it is a fantastic, hair raising song (especially hearing it for the first time) and probably their best work since the 1984 album.
