Mikey was far more important to their signature sound than Alex ever was.
The driving force was Dave, bottom line.

Comon RH... You know Al had alot to do with the sound of VH... His symbols were the key to the VH rythem...
That said... I do believe it could all be captured without Al or Mike but Dave and ED are musts! Well... Maybe Brian Young could pull off Ed...Comment

It's all four of them. With vocals, you need Mikey. Instrumentally, Ed and Al. But DAVE is the key. He's the reason I became a fan. He's what I look forward to when I put on a VAN HALEN album.Roth Army Militia
