I saw them in 80 and 84 and maybe because I was ninth row center at the Forum in 84 I would have to say that was the best. It was by far the best concert I have ever seen. The only show that came close to 84 was when he hooked up with VAI and the guys for the first one. That Steve guy is pretty good.

Does he care what goes on with the brothers, Mike and whatever train wreck de jour have going down today?? I'd guess not...
EXACTLY. Dave has no interest in having a beer with any of them, he's only interested in getting up on stage with them, and giving the audience - and himself - the time of our lives.

Did he actually say that? What I believe is that Eddie Van Halen couldn't play like Brian Young even if he were sober. He's out of shape, out of touch and out of his mind.

Dave probably feels sorry for Eddie.

            MY THOUGHTS.........

I don't think Dave cares anywhere near as much as many people think he does. I've spoken to 2 former members of Roth's touring band plus one current member and the one recurring theme I've heard is that Dave just does whatever he wants whenever he wants and that his life is not planned in any sequence of events. Judging from Dave's own actions this would seem to be true. Also everything I've heard about the failed reunion efforts after 96' is that the main reason it couldn't be put together is due to the fact that Dave demanded that contracts be finalized before any real rehearsals for a tour would take place. I have no idea how true this is but it certainly sounds plausible after the royal screwing the brothers gave Dave in 96'. Could you really blame him? Bottom line is that if the brothers ever asked Dave in the right way to come back he probably would for a number of reasons which include being back in the spotlight big time, the huge paycheck, and proving a point about which VH lineup made history. But I really don't think he's sitting around sulking waiting for them to call. He still gets press on his own and VH's legacy is secure with and largely because of him. I seriously doubt he thinks about it anywhere near as much as we do in all honesty.
            DLR/VH IS JUST BETTER
