    Early Years Dvd

I am considering buying 'The Van Halen Story:The Early Years' DVD, and have been for some time. But if there is one thing I hate about buying unofficial documentries it's that they generally suck.

So, could somebody please tell me what it is like?

Its so NOT a piece of shit...every true VH fan should own it. Lots of good stories, Mark Stone commentary, and we get to see some dude's basement as the 'Van Halen Museum'...
Maybe this is what a heroine addict feels like after getting a long awaited fix, shooting up in the corner of some abandoned building and just not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world thinks...TATTOO"

The story about how the 'back yard parties' would spread out and cover 4-5 blocks befor the cops came to break it up is worth the price alone, PLUS you get to see the ORIGINAL Mark Stone Van Halen logo...(how much would that go for on Ebay?)

By the way, this is a duplicate thread. Actually there are 3-4 threads on this from about a year ago...

You know the SEARCH function works on this mo'fo'...

Nothing essential. 'Bout as good as a Van Halen documentary without music can be. If you don't get it, you won't be missing much. For completists only.

Yeah, if you're a hardcore fan you'll know all those stories already..........that said, it's not bad if the price is right.

don't take Dave's PA seriously. he's a complete amateur at this thing.

I was wondering the same thing. For the first time I saw a copy of it in one of our local mainstream music stores and thought about buying it but didn't. It's only $AUS15.00 so maybe it's worth it for the rare pics and interviews.

So what are some of the stories on the DVD... I am into stories and interviews, but not if they say the same thing 50 different ways!

Yes, we need someone to give us a real rundown on this DVD.

Dave's book covers those early years pretty well anyway.

it's very much a piece of shit. a low-budget amateur looking half assed piece of shit. there's a fucking clip from the motherfucking Poseidon Adventure on it, for chrissakes.

i liken it to those shows they have on E!, where so-and-so from People magazine says, "well, at this time of his life, (fill in celeb name here), was having big problems with (insert addictive substance here)"...what the fuck do i care about what someone else has to say? i want to hear it from the subject themselves, not from assorted hangers-on. other than Mark Stone being on it, the rest of it is completely fucking worthless to me. barely worth the blank DVD it was copied on, and almost barely worth the cost of the postage it took to get it to me.
