Just wasnt around long enough to overthrow the king.
He would have done so easily.

Some would argue that Satch, Vai and Malmsteen were better.

However Randy was the closest in style, and he added the same flair as Ed, without being restricted to pentatonic scales. Ed hit a wall and it ended. Nothing new and innovative in the hagar years at all. You get the feeling Randy would have kept developing..

Ed is the king, but only because Randy got killed.
