bands say that they have at least an albums worth of tunes because if they said they only had 2 tunes we would all be like what the hell are you lazy bastards doing when you are not touring and doing shows.

Bands are a pretty lazy bunch when you take it all into consideration.
Recording = work
Touring = fun, whores, blow, whores, more money, whores.
They would much rather play (tour) than work (record).
