Overhead: he has his own studio, pays his musicians next to nothing, pays nothing for design (look at the shitty DLR Band CD and Diamond Dave cover art) and acts as his own producer.
if he targeted the Roth Army only he could sell enough to cover his overhead and everything else (iTunes etc) could be profit.
Look at Prince & Ani DiFranco - they both have direct to consumer business models for their music that work...and are very profitable.
Either Dave does not know how to do it or Dave does not give a shit enough to do it or learn how to do it.
