How much does David Lee Roth make from his past music?

I'd really like to know if he saved his money, spent it or how much do you think he lives off of each year? Maybe it' just me, but I'm curious.

I imagine he does well off, just on the royalties from the back catalogue, remasters the box set release and to some degree I would just bet he gets coin from Van Halen's 2004 tour. Dave isn't stupid. He makes it very clear in his book he was always on top of his money and where it went. Also everytime he does a few shows here and there, he rakes in decent money as well. He brought in 5000 to Casino Rama in Nov. That means he brought in roughly 150,ooo dollars for 2 hours worth of work. (Worth every penny I must say!) Now I know theres the band to pay, the caters, the booze, the bus etc etc... But that just means to me, that he's still playing the music I love, and partying and making money when he does it. He's more rich than we think.

His royalties aren't as good as you might think.

remember his lawsuit a few years back? he only made/makes ten cents per album sale of the back catalog. the other members - including mike anthony -make significantly more thanks to their ciontract renegotiation with WB back in 96.

Dave - like sammy, actually, has made a number of very good investments outside of music. he owns a couple of restaurants and clubs, and also apparently rents out his home for location for porn shoots.

I don't think he got a dime from that tour dude.

Any band can play any music they want in concert. It's when they try to release music commercially that the artist(s) must be paid, ie covers.

Remember, Classic VH is Ed, Al's and Mike's also. That would mean that everytime Roth tours they must be paid as well.

No I dont think he got anything from the 2004 tour directly or indirectly, Im thinking that Dave is/was smart enough to make sure that something is written somewhere, that he gets some money from any continuation of the original band playing the music that Dave himself wrote. I dont know. Not likely, but Dave does come across as a crafty fucker. We know Dave got shafted in 96 from the brothers and the bass player signing new deals with WB. What we don't know, and possibly will never know, is what will become of that suit filed and what "arrangements" were ongoing in 2000. We know Dave was "working with" Ed for several songs then. Think Dave did anything without a lawyer post 96? realistically Dave could sue for the money that Van Halen made from 85 on... Look, it was a four piece band in 78 called Van Halen. A name Dave is credited for by Ed himself. I know, before everyone gets upset, I know it is Ed's last name, but if the owner of the name can't think of the band name, but the guy they rented the PA system off of can... What does it tell you? It tells me that from 1985 to present day, Dave is owed 25% of ALL monies Van Halen had made. :D
