    A View From The Edge...

Why are we all still here? Why does Sarge continue to pay for this site? Nobody in the present-day music business cares about our taste in music. The 80's have long since passed us by...

    And yet...we remain.

Outwardly, it appears that we only remain here to relive the glory of our sometimes wasted youth. Many come here to thump their chests and brag that 'they were there in 1978' when Van Halen was young and wild. Most come here because we all share some kind of common bond. We all have been affected by the synergy that was VH with Roth.

It was fresh and new and so different to us...nothing was better. And it holds up through the years.

So why are we still here?

I know why I come here every day.

We keep coming back because a tiny part of us knows that Edward Van Halen could wake up TOMORROW and decide to give Dave a call.

We've all read the articles, the lies the EVH has told. He has contradicted every claim he has ever made. He could wake up tomorrow with a change of heart. Give the fans what they want. He could do it. Tomorrow.

That's why we keep this shit up.

That's why we keep coming back.

    See you tomorrow.
Maybe this is what a heroine addict feels like after getting a long awaited fix, shooting up in the corner of some abandoned building and just not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world thinks...TATTOO"

It's just fun to chat will people who lived through the classic Van Halen days. I'm still a sucker for old VH pictures and bootlegs. I love anything from the club days and the early albums.

The Roth Army is like an old Creem magazine, MAD magazine, Playboy, and Guitar Player all rolled into one. I was a huge fan of all of those periodicals when they were on the top of the heap.

Tossing off to the Suzanne Summers centerfold, checking out the MAD fold in and the latest Spy vs. Spy and Al Jaffee cartoons, reading about the new hot kid on the block Eddie Van Halen and wondering how in the hell he did those things on a guitar. All good memories.
No! You can't have the keys to the wine cellar!

perhaps some of us come for the hot asses thread........

.....there's your common bond right there lol.

It's not about anything deep or meaningful.....

I sure don't claim to have the answers, but we bang this forum like a free-bee from a vegas call-girl.........
I like Van Halen more than Dave's PA Rental.....which means I like Van Halen more than you

I'm new here..........but I lurked around reading the posts for quite some time before hopping on board.

This site and these forums are like medicine for me........giving me hope that someday the REAL mighty Van Halen may once again take the stage.

EVH was the reason I first picked up a guitar at age 11. And now, at age 35, he still blows me away. But DLR is the only one who can ever do justice to the name "Van Halen."

Oh...and the other reason I'm here is because a lot of you folks are fuckin' hilarious!! I've never laughed so than I laugh when reading some of your posts.

Oh...and Ed....I second Moose's comment.....SO CALL DAVE YOU SELF-INVOLVED JITBAG! I love you man.....but you have really been a major contributor to the clusterfuck that is rapidly becoming the Van Halen legacy.

You are frying yourself....slowly but surely. (See my screen name) Every time I see you you look a little more cooked than the time before. Recapture the magic of what once was just one last time before you check out, dude.

Nothing would sober Ed up quicker than an influx of Reunite on ice....yep, it'd be nice.

                  All the demons....*FWA-BAM*!

                  Instantly vanquished.

No more drowning memories of ballads, clowns, gaydars, etc.

A moment of clarity as they say...a moment that would tic as long as Dave was pouring the Reunite over the perverbial ice.

Nothing like being judged by your peers, especially in close proximity.....it'll shore enough re-kindle some fucking fury.

Ed would be disregarding all things detrimental to performance if PEER #1 was going to be hanging around the studio for awhile.

"FUCK THIS....I'LL SHOW THAT MOTHERFUCKER....WAIT 'TIL HE HEARS THIS SHIT"...the clouds start parting.....know what I mean?

It'd be like a tonic....not the mixer, the cure everything, syrupy, guaranteed to fix ya stuff.

                  Deja-vu all over again.

                  Competitive rivalry that produces thrivalry.
