If Ed remembers how to play again, and if he hooks up with Dave, then maybe we might consider it.
I mean this dude cant even remember "Unchained" and "Runnin with the Devil" ??
Do we want Dave singing along to a half assed guitar version of these
classics ?BABY PANA 2 IS Coming !! All across the land, let the love and beer flow !
Love ya Mary Frances! -
Gotta admit.....I still have a small piece of my heart reserved for Eddie when he comes back to reality.
He's the guy who inspired me to pick up a guitar 24 years ago when I was 11 years old. I love playing, and I'll always be grateful for his inspiration.
Right now he's just a scary skeleton marching in the direction Alex points him. If he can get his fuckin' head on straight and stop being such a selfish douchebag....then I'd consider "taking him back."
Until then....the jury remains out.Originally posted by perilouspete

'Bout the only use I have for Ed now is if he reforms CVH.
No point in going to see Van Hagar 2004, just to see Ed do Eruption or whatever. Mindset got changed with the 1996 BOV1 CVH tracks, where the guitar solos weren't astounding, but the band still grooved. No more mystery to what Ed did guitar-wise anymore, and in some ways his solos are old-hat. But to hear what new tunes CVH could come up with...
That's really what I'd want out of a CVH reunion beyond hearing them do Unchained or whatever again; some new material. Saw 'em in 1984 and have heard/seen so many boots that them just going out and doing the classic catalog isn't gonna do very much for me. My standards and expectations are so high that they'd need to pull a big-time hat trick to impress me.
If Ed gets his shit together, I'd love to hear it. Still won't erase the years of blandness he's wallowed in since 1985. And his attitude toward the classic lineup, well...fuck him. Don't care if he wrote the shit or not. I dig that stuff and don't care for the way the Van Halens have basically given CVH fans the finger.Scramby eggs and bacon.Comment

Eddie gets bashed for several reasons..the validity of each is point/counter point..
1) for turning the Mighty VH into Van Hagar
2) for his complacency since 85 with Van Hagar music
3) for being a drunken loner with no direction
4) for being a deceptive asshole towards Dave...most of all 1996!!
5) for not having the stones to tell his brother to lick a window!!
6) for not ressurecting VAN HALEN...yet...
7) for the last 20 years!!Comment

I just don't think that they would be as big a creative force as they were in the old days, with or without DLR. DLR would bring back the raw energy that was missing during the Fucking Hagar shite years, but the only way a tour would work would be on the back of a Shit-Hot album, and i dont think Ed has it in him anymore!Don't need a gun to blow your mind!
