Hello, fellow Halenatics! I just got back about an hour ago from 3 relentless days at NAMM, and I had the TIME OF MY LIFE (EXCEPT for some VERY, VERY SAD NEWS ABOUT THE BOYS! ). If I may, I'd also like to tell you about my NAMM experience, as it was my first one of many, many, many more to come! IN MY 1st NAMM EXPERIENCE: I got TONS of autographs, pictures (w/ rocks stars, models, Cabo Wabo girls, Jagermeister girls, & porn stars, even L.A. Lakers girls & Luke Walton, and Japanese cuties), and goodies from A LOT of my favorite rock gods! Onto the bad news...
I planned to go to NAMM to meet a whole bunch of rock stars, but of course, to meet MIKEY!!! My intentions with MIKEY was to get pictures, autographs, and good memories with Mikey, and to thank him for the wonderful, wonderful music that he has contributed to the world, and that's it. Even though I'm dying to know, I was NOT GOING TO ASK him what is going on with the boys because of many reasons:
1. I'm too nice (and shy)
2. He will give the "runaround" (no pun intended) no matter what
3. I want to keep him smiling, as he deserves it! (As he made me smile, and I want him to think positively of me, not negatively)
The first time I met him (at the Yamaha booth), everything went smoothly, as I planned up above. I got pictures & signatures of one of my idols from =V/-/= . I told him that I have many posters of him in my room (just him in many posters), as well as the other members of the boys, and he said thank you. I busted out 3 things for him to sign, but he only signed 2 of time restraints, which is ok. I also told him thank you for the 5-Star packages offered to the fans and that they should continue it, and told him God Bless you! That was SUPPOSED to be the first and last of my visits to see Mikey at NAMM that day....Well..........something HAPPENED!
I am not at liberty to say, as I don't want to get him into trouble (although I did open my big mouth and I told Mikey, but that's later, you'll see), but I met someone very famous close to the Van Halen camp, and I hung out with him for over half an hour!!! HE WAS SO COOL!!! He asked me if I caught the tour with the boys last year, and I said, "Of course! I had one 5-Star package, and I went to 2 other shows!" He asked me what I thought of it, and I told him that the 5-Star package was "An experience of a LIFETIME!", and he said, "I'm glad that you had a good time." I told him that I look forward to more of them, and he said, "You mean with Sammy?", I said, "Yes, who else?" He said, "No, not Sammy, because he left Van Halen". He then spilled the beans about Van Halen, and said that Sammy left Van Halen because Eddie is "5150 in the head! Eddie is in really bad shape. Things got much worse when Valerie left him." I was so so so sad, because I am an optomist, but the facts are biting me right on my nose. He even said that Sammy is going to record a new album with the Waboritas that should come out by this winter! Then they should tour! WHAT'S GOING ON?!?! WHYYYYY?!
Then I said to myself, after growing some coconuts because I got two freakin' phone numbers from two freakin' hot Cabo Wabo girls (and more phone numbers from "normal" hot girls), I said to myself, screw it, I have to ask Mikey (even though I know he'll deny it, like he has denied all of you guys before in the past)! I went to the Dean-Markeley booth at 4 PM (By the way, Mikey's daughter was there, and she's kinda hot! Much better looking in person than her pic on her dad's site! LOL, she came down, and threw in some breath mints in her daddy's mouth, how cute!). By the way, a friend of mine was with me at the NAMM show for the first 3 days, and he's also a Halenatic, like myself, and he even posts here! If you see this thread, say hi, bro! When I told my buddy that I'm going to straight up ask Mikey, he said, "OK, let's go see Mikey again", as my buddy said he was going to ask if the boys will release a DVD of the last tour, as Mikey told him that "We have footage of it, but we have no plans to do anything with it. We will just have to wait and see what happens with that."
When I went to the booth, he said, "Didn't I give you an autograph earlier at Yamaha?" THEN, I ASKED MIKEY, STRAIGHT UP: "I got some news today, not too long ago, from a VERY RELIABLE SOURCE that Van Halen and Sammy have broken up. Please tell me, is it the truth?" He said, "Who told you that?" I said, "You really want to know? They said that Sammy and the Waboritas are back together, and they will release an album by the Winter, then tour. Is it true?" He said again, "Who told you that?". I said, "It was (the name)". Then Mikey did his famous laugh, and totally tilted his head back! He said, "No, it's not true, we're just taking some time off, as we had a long tour last year." I said, "Yeah, you guys deserve time off". I said, "When are you coming out of time off?" Mikey was noticeably getting annoyed, and said, "We'll just see what happens. Do you want an autograph or what?"
I was so bummed that I annoyed Mikey, as I did not plan to do so, as he is a classy guy, and one of the few guys of the Van Halen world to make the trek to NAMM just about every year, so I do appreciate him coming. But you see what I mean? Van Halen with Sammy is over! 2 very, very reliable sources said so! I don't want to cling on to false hopes, as I have done that many times with the boys, and it hurts!
More info, although it's heresay (although I did confirm with my source and with Yamaha), many people said that at the Yamaha private party close to NAMM, Sammy showed up, jammed with Mikey and Vic Johnson, and then flew out the next morning, as he didn't want to go to any of the NAMM booths that he was endorsing (there must have been almost a dozen booths with Sammy Hagar endorsements!), because he didn't want to face the fans and hear the same ol' questions from the fans. But you see! He's been seen jamming a lot with VIC!!! That's like cheating on your girlfriend! LOL! But seriously, this is a lot of overwhelming evidence that the boys with Sammy are no more, and I wanted to tell everyone. I wish that I could have told you guys better news, and I pray that things work out!
