So I'm sitting around the house, rubbing lemon juice into my papercuts, you know, just torturing myself. All of a sudden, I notice I'm out of lemons and realize I must find new and brutal ways to inflict pain upon my person. So, being the glutton of punishment that I am, I start looking for old Sammy Hagar interviews ( I know, I'm in desperate need of help). So I came across a Razor Magazine article from 2001 that contained the following paragraph. To put it in context, the interviewer just asked about the VMA award appearance with the Diamond One.
"Oh, I knew that that was going to happen but I was gone. It was a done deal long before that. They were doing that to promote the greatest hits record, which, as I mentioned, is why I'm not in the band, because I refused to be part of the package. Every record when I was in the band went to number one, right? Sold 5, 6, 7 million records? So the fans have it, right? So to get together to write two new songs that our hard core fans have to have and make them buy a double CD set at twice the price because it's got all these songs on it, Roth tunes, Sammy tunes, it's a scam."
I know I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas Tree, but damn, Sammy takes the cake (and apparently eats it) when it comes to being a dumbass. When you are a pathological liar, it must be hard to keep your story straight. Of course, as the Diamond DJ said this week, "When you tell the truth, you don't have to remember what you said".
