Van Halen is one of the last great rock groups of the 70's who made it on their music, their shows, their image & their attitude alone before MTV with an important & influential debut album back in 78 which was like an atomic bomb at the time with Eddie's guitar virtuosity & Dave's swaggering vocals as well as great kick ass tracks which is why nothing has happened in rock since VH. Legendary rock bands that came rock & roll a good kick in the ass before them like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Who, the Kinks, the Byrds, the Doors, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, Deep Purple, Allman Bros., Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Kiss & AC/DC did more than any 80's rock bands combined which isn't an exaggeration. The, 80's, 90's & today rock & roll has been going downhill since it's on life support at the moment because of MTV while the impact of groups like Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Poison, Dokken, Guns-N-Roses, Metallica & Megedeth has disappeared 20 years later along with 90's bands like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden & Alice In Chains despite their classics being played on some classic rock & alternative rock stations. Van Halen is one of the last great rock & roll bands of their time with six important & influential classic rock albums which are timeless because they were real about their music, their shows, their image, their attitude & the fans more so than being seen on MTV which is what it's all about in the first place so if anybody really thinks something actually happened in rock in the 80's without mentioning U2 & Motley Crue as revolutionaries is crazy.
