No prob Figs. It was one of my favorite movies back in the day, but I'm not sure how well it has aged, since it's been about 15 years since I last saw it. Ed's score was pretty bad ass though, and I've always wondered if it was floating around out there.

As for the Hicks thread, couldn't agree with you more AP! Coming right up in non-related.

From IMDB, there is only Donut City on the soundtrack. I imagine it would be really hard to find a recording of the score.

      "DONUT CITY"

      Performed by Edward Van Halen
Produced by Donn Landee and Edward Van Halen

You hear Ed play mellow stuff that isn't cheesy.
Riffs that had real potential before they here Hagared.
REmember the party scene, those riffs were killer, sure would have been great with Dave. Got rewritten badly and wala, a watered down mess that became AFU.

If you get a good, unedited copy of the flick you can hear the potential.

Procduced by Donn Landee and Ed...that might be the first real example of frissure between Ed and Ted Templeman. Up to that point, Ted produced virtaully every note of Ed's work. Donn Landee was Ted's long time engineer (and was engineer on all six of dave era music), and after the split, (where Ted went and produced EEAS) Donn was credited as one of the engineers on 5150.

I know Ted was demanding on Ed in the studio, making him play parts over and over again, and pushing him to write better and better solos (notice how there are very few remarkable Ed solos after dave and Ted weren't helping guide and support Ed?). But this (which also coincided with the time Ed built his home studio) could be another reason for the fracture.

ps.. Ed eventually had a big falling out with Donn Landee as well. The guy really can't maintain a working relationship, can he?

Good find Figs! I figured it'd be damn near impossible to find the original score.

I read a Guitar World interview with Ed several years back where he says he's embarrassed he did it. He claimed "The songs sucked, I half assed it."

But I liked Donut City...and I swear to god there are parts from Right Now and AFU on there before those songs came out. No wonder Ed was embarrased, he rehashed riffs from a score to include on Van Hagar albums. I'd be embarrased too. I'm sure Ed's the reason the score was never available for purchase. What a jackass!

            Roth on!

              amazon

He is the reason more of his work wasn't on the soundtrack.
Anyway, I found these on Amazon.

The Wild Life was filmed at my High School (Torrance High) my Junior Year. My buddies and I tried day after day to sneak into the back ground scenes - but always got caught. We did manage to eat off of the catering trucks posing as extra's - so that was cool. But the even better thing was checking the movie out for the first time and hearing Eddie play!
