I saw CVH in 1979 1980 and 1985. They were great each time. Truly the greatest groove ever. Since that time Dave left made some amazing stuff wrote a book and continues to be a prolific writer/composer who makes it work regardless. Great awesome fantastic (chose your own descripter). Meanwhile back at the ranch of VH they also recorded some (if you can call it ) music. Nothing anywhere close to their past (needlessly said) efforts , but they were there. Ed and Alex and Mikey have become an absolute parody of a "rock" group. (Spinal Tap 2). What gets me is everyone pleading to get DLR and this joke of a group together. Do you really want to see Dave fronting SpinalTap is that really appealing to you? Ed is too far gone to play like he used too. He hasn't created a single riff that sounds good since 84 and even some of those were from their demo material. Alex is such a non entity to VH that I wont even cover his uselessness 'cept to say there are much better drummers in the high school marching bands across the US. Mike was best noted for singing backup not playing bass. All you have left is Dave still recording and touring like a professional. I'm sorry but I don't see the appeal of DLR fronting a train wreck. What was CVH is immortalized in video and audio. It will never be the same again. To me David Lee Roth is far greater than the friends he played with so very long ago, but like all things in life his friends never grew and fulfilled themselves to be anything other than his past. Sadly they never will. David meanwhile grew reached and strived to be better than his past and is still actively going. Don't ask Dave to revert to babysitting drunk wrecks so you can fulfill your own selfish dream of seeing CVH. It wont be what you expect and might destroy the magic that still lingers in those recording from yesterday.

I agree 100 percent. Let's preserve the memory of that once great band. Dave's band is FAR superior to that trainwreck of a band these days...........Let Sam and the sisters continue sinking into the quicksand(as we spit on their faces).........

I don't know if I'll ever not want to see CVH go around one last time. It would be nice to have one final album and tour just for closure if nothing else. But I am getting really tired of waiting for it.

Realistically, if it doesn't happen in the next five years I don't see it happening at all. Who knows how long it will take the sisters to wake up and smell the burnt toast up there on howdy doody mountain.

Back in Novemeber, Alex said that, like the Beatles, it's never going to happen, and that Dave needs to be on meds.

Doesn't sound too heartening for a reunion.

(He also said that he and Ed are the biggest dicks...oops, I mean music fans...in the world, so they understand why the fans want it, but it's just never going to happen)

Ed and Dave hooked up in 96 and 2000....and Al shit when he saw Dave come in. Ed is driving....Al is just riding shotgun!!

Alex saying Dave needs to be on meds is the biggest pot/kettle example I've ever seen.

I think this d-bag has his neck brace on too tight.

And no Alex, it's nothing like the Beatles - BECAUSE EVERYONE ON THE CVH ROSTER IS STILL ALIVE AND TO SOME EXTENT FULLY FUNCTIONAL.


All it's going to take is 1 thing - a simple ego check from all parties.

Yeah well perhaps Ed, Al & Mikey took the easy road by going with Spammy, but I would say that Uncle Dave is the one with TRUE MUSICAL INTEGRITY.

He has had HIS vision of the kind of music he wished to release and play live, and he has followed through with it. He has not sold out to anyone!!!

I do agree with one point....a CVH reunion would just be DLR fronting a Van Halen tribute band.

One other reason I WOULD go to see them would be a morbid fascination with the possiblity that Ed would get mad at Dave, throw his guitar at him, and then Dave would unleash the fooking fury on him and break his weak alcoholic hands....

Totally agree with your point on Dave's Musical Vision...

Never thought about the whole trainwreck potential of a reunion, but that's very compelling. Great points HR69.
