Beautiful Girls & Soundtracks In General

Am I the only one who can't hear this song without thinking "If you want a cold beer, and you're gay....Schmits Gay!"

BTW: I noticed that when they re-run that one lately it doesn't have the VH song in it anymore. Ed's doing?

It seems strange that VH don't pop up on many soundtracks. There's gotta be some demand for the classic stuff, and it's free money to the artist. I wonder who's blocking this one? It must be Ed or Al, since there's no Hagar crap being used either. Why the hell would Ed pass on the free booze money? Just to keep Dave from getting his "motherfucking movie check"?

Private parts springs to mind. but then again, that was right around the time that Ed and Dave reconvened.

    Interesting...

Can't see why Ed would avoid the money, when he wouldn't even have to see Dave at all or even lift a finger to generate the check.

That's the only one I could think of as well. Like I said, it seems strange to me. With diminishing album sales, soundtracks are an easy way to get quick cash. Ask John Fogerty!

They would have to pay royalties every time they ran the 'Schmidts Gay' skit, so they paid some flunkie $10 to play something that 'reminds' you of Beautiful Girls...

Also, there has been plenty of Classic VH in soundtracks...Night Shift had YRGM, most Adam Sandler/David Spade movies have a CVH track, didnt Detroit Rock City have RWTD on it? There has to be more...
Maybe this is what a heroine addict feels like after getting a long awaited fix, shooting up in the corner of some abandoned building and just not giving a fuck about what the rest of the world thinks...TATTOO"

I've always liked the CVH scene from Airheads

"Who's side did you take in the big Van Halen David Lee Roth spilt"

Other movies though with CVH soundtracks that I can think of are:

Mission to Mars: Dance the Night Away
              Varsity Blues: Hot for Teacher
Ready to Rumble: Nuns singing RWTD
              Roth Army Militia

The inclusion of the DTNA, in it's entirety, was pretty much the highlight of that movie.

True that! Jesus was that a wasted 2 hours of my life.

I had a discussion about this with Mark, the producer of "The Early Days" DVD when he was trying to buy the rights to CVH tunes.

I can't remember all of the details, but it was something to the extent of WB owns some of the publishing and has some say over what's released on soundtracks. I don't think it's all in Ed's hands from what I can remember. Although he did say that Ed was the reason a lot of the CVH vault hasn't seen the light of day.

I remember at that time that the whole Dave/VH reunion speculation was at it's peak during "Mission to Mars"...I honestly thought for a while that it was VH's way of telling us Dave was back...sue me.
