Didn't get it. Don't care to get it.

I indeed have a rockers tunnel vision. But songs like "Sensible Shoes" rock more than anything on Diamond Dave.

I've listened to DD and was glad it was released. Won't buy it though. It just sounds tired.

Did buy the latest Motley Crue Greatest Hits though--3 of them now with the same songs. Nice work if you can get it!

Would also buy a remastered VH (78-84) Greatest Hits with a new song. Oh, I did. It was 1996. *sigh*

So many have taken issue with all the covers. I love covers especially when they are done well and with respect for the original.

Blues music is 90% covers. the same songs that were written in the 30's and then covered in the 50's and covered again in the 70's and yet again in more recent years and will be again and again. These are good tunes that should not be sitting on a shelf somewhere with no one listening to them.

Its always cool when someone like Dave ( or Clapton, or SRV,) would grab a hold of one, dust it off a put it back out there for more people to enjoy.

I like Calderone's comment about how these songs were chosen by Dave to show us what he considers to be good tunes. I think that was definitely his intent and I think about that when I listen to this CD as well as Diver Down
      TLC
You KNOW I got the blues.
      Can you dig it?

He said the cover choices were influenced by his adolescence, 'rock' wise.

Many others have done the same thing.

Why, just the other day I was listening to Sedaka's "songs I want to sing" and.......ummm....never mind.

I think this is a GREAT album. It was a big step for Dave. Gotta love Soul Kitchen.

              OK,They are all covers but,its 100% DLR,
those are his songs, the songs that describe him the most,
he covered the songs cause he loved them!
and wanted to share with us his good taste, while giving us
our diamond dave cd dosis, and send us a message on the song lyrics.

I think this is a great post,i thought about this everytime i listen to DD.
              And :spin: Its great !

Yeah, loved the obvious message of You Got the Blues... NOT ME!

Plus, I believe this album was all about Dave's own personal tastes, and not the tired, commercial driven musical ideas of his former VH counterparts. To hell with 'commerciality' is what Dave was saying.

Probably gives you an idea of what it would be like if you got to hang out with Dave on an early Saturday evening and listen to some of his favorite stuff

They were all expecting a VH-LIKE album,oh yes,he can do it an album like that but he didn't wanted to!
                !
Who the fuck are you to say that I'm not a diehard fan of Dave's?

Take your fucking blinders off....that album is 10 times worse than DLRBand.

Just because I like a band doesn't mean that I'm going to like, or even listen to everything they put out.

If you like this album, good for you, I'm glad that you do.

But to come here and say that you're a bigger or better fan because you do is ignorant.

You are a DLR Sheep....nothing wrong with that, but it's true. You are one of his fans who thinks that Dave can do no wrong, and if something blows up in his face you say, "hey he did what he wanted."

Dave could put an album out full of burps, coughs, and farts....in your eyes it would be a masterpiece, and you would probably start some thread here stating that it was "groundbreaking" and should have gone platinum.

I'm glad you shared your opinion, but I have to disagree with you.

                DLR7884
That album was a waste of my money.

                  By the way.....

Who here agrees that Dave butchered "If Six was 9?"

I was looking forward to hearing that song when I saw the tracklist.

Yeah i know what you mean about it not being what you expected.

I think Dave just put a little bit of a different psychedlic spin on it.

One of the things i liked about the tunes he picked was that yeah they are classic rock cover tunes but he didnt go with the obvious tunes.

He could have easily picked purple haze, or Foxey lady. or Roadhouse blues or love me two times. Revolution or get back.

He didnt go with the more Popular choices. So in a sense he took a risk because a lot of people who maybe wouldnt buy a Dave album but maybe would have bought it for the covers alone might have said nah im not to crazy about those tunes anyway.

Pretty much what he said, but without the killer instinct.

DLR has laid eggs. Diamond Dave was one of them. I'd rather listen to the Boston radio monologues.

I admire the My-Way attitude and wait in anticipation for the next DLR installment.

I didn't like the album much at first, but then I spent a week at the beach on the Gulf of Mexico ....

it's a great album for relaxing on the beach... I don't know why but in that context it was great..... now when I listen to it I think about the beach... it's one of my favorites...
