    Who would Dave produce

Everyone knows Dave is a great production guy. The Classic VH and Early solo videos and sound quality on all albums is there as proof.

If Dave was asked to produce someone elses album who do you think he would want to work with.

My thoughts, The Darkness, Silvertide, Velvet Revolver.

    Any ideas???

That's an interesting question, one I've never thought about.

    Hmmm...

With Dave's diverse range of interests, it could almost really be any kind of band, ie. salsa, big-band, etc, in addition to a rock act.

But I think most industry people would consider Dave to be way out of touch with the times.

I dont know about not being in touch with the times. I mean Dave did tell Sammy on MTV and Carson Daily on his show that he is on the Front Bumper of American pop culture.

Dave's not really a good producer.

Ted Templeman's the genius behind the sound of the first six records.

Dave's gig was writing clever lyrics and trying to keep Ed sober enough to come up with good licks.

Dave co produced Skyscraper with Steve Vai and in my opinion that album was ahead of it time. I mean listen to the song Skyscraper, those dynamics were awesome.

Mutt Lange, Daniel Lanois and George Martin are out of touch?

I'm surprised Dave HASN'T done this yet. Kiss helped out Van Halen...who has Dave helped out? It's apparent that Dave's influence is all over the 6-pack because Van Hagar went 180 and downhill with the rock department.

I could see him w/ The Darkness. Justin worships Dave and they rock to a Queen collided with AC/DC sound. Let Dave "motivate" the band in new directions and teach Justin the growl and VIOLA...instant immortality!

Video concepts don't translate into what sounds good on record.

The reason the Van Hagar era records stunk production wise was that they rarely had a decent producer. They ditched Ted Templeman and decided to go with Andy Johns for most of the next few records.

Yeah thats true but Ted Templeman also produced Van Hagars F.u.c.k album. What the hell happened there??? Dont blame Sammy cuz that 1st montrose album is a classic and he produced that to.

Ted produced the vocals on FUCK, which sounded pretty good, even if you think the record sucks. Andy Johns and Van Halen produced the music.
