I was watching clips of the interview with Eddie and Alex. (BTW They Both Look like Nerds. Ed was wearing these weird glasses.) anyways they went off and Said Dave Said "Tonights About Me Man!", and they act like Dave is the most horrible person yadda, yadda. And I'm sitting here thinking WELL IT IS ABOUT HIM YOU IDIOTS!!!, We're the fans excited about Eddie, Alex and Mike there on stage, NO! They we're glad that Dave was back. Here's the what I Think the $i$ter$ are the most spoiled musicians I have ever seen, They Do not care for The Fans period and they want to make money. I wish they would take a look at a band like Aerosmith who reuited Joe Perry with the group for the Fans. If you look at their audience today they have everybody from people in their 20's to Middle Aged people. The Reason why I think they are spoiled this because if they wanted to reunite with Dave they would have done it for more than 20 minutes and would have put there diffrences aside and have went tour and realeased at least one album with Dave. Being perfectly honest i'm suprised someone hasn't just went up to him and Yelled At Him "REUNITE WITH DAVE YOU MORON". In fact If anyone on this board comes in contact with him. Please feel free to Yell This At Him).

Money is a part of it, no doubt. But they're not really after the maximum payday, because even they admitted in 1996 that they were offered a shitpot of dough to reunite with Roth (you never heard them making such claims re: getting back together with Hagar in 2004), and they didn't seal the deal.
dave_is_vh mentioned that they want control of the band, and that I agree with but I think it goes beyond that.
Seems like EVH and AVH want fans to remember CVH as solely revolving around Ed's guitar playing, to the extent that Roth was disposable/the group would have been legendary regardless of who fronted them, to the point where they seem to come off interviews post-1984 as saying that Roth was what held them back from being a great band.
It's a quixotic attempt at historical revisionism, because there are too many people out there who do remember CVH and know that Ed wasn't the whole enchilada, Al and Mike were both lucky to be there in many ways (someone should explain nepotism to Al - think he'd come to appreciate the impact it had on his life, cuz' he's not all that on the drums...doesn't suck, but is fortunate his last name is Van Halen), and that Roth brought a lot to that group. Quite a bit more than the Van Halens have given him credit for.
Think that's why we haven't seem classic box sets, live videos and a CVH reunion. For them to do those things is admitting Roth's importance. With Hagar at the helm, it's easier to say it's Ed's band, cuz' with Van Hagar you're only gonna concentrate on Ed anyway. Roth in the group changes the dynamic and siphons some of the focus off of Ed.
For a couple of guys who bitch about Dave's ego, the sisters have shown that they have plenty of their own. In Ed's case it may be warranted; he has a lot of talent that he used to display proudly until he started coasting. With Alex, not quite sure where his pumped-up sense of self comes from. If his last name had been anything other than Van Halen, methinks his life would have turned out quite differently.
