Betcha that limo ride was part 1 a wake-up call to Dave, shaking him out of his own denial throughout that summer that the Van Halens weren't bullshitting him about having a future with the band beyond the greatest hits tracks. Part 2 was the limo ride back to the hotel from the MVAs. By then he came to the realization that he was gonna get fucked over in terms of touring with the band in 1996/1997.

Point??? The truth of the matter is that Sammy is a better performer/singer. Yes the Roth era tunes do kick ass (for their time) however Sammy era stuff is also up there in terms of quality. Like CLV, some Sammy era songs suck (i.e AFU) however the same can be said for CLV (ever listen to Diver Down and you will see my point)!!
