Has Dave contacted Ed since the Hagar Failure ?

Dave came out rcently and said at the start of every year, his
management approaches Ed and Alices, and tries to negotiate
a reunion. This got me wondering. Does anyone think that
Dave has spoken to Ed personally since the less than impressive
Van HAgar 2004 , half filled venue tour ???

Im guessing EVH with his Fixed performance fee doesnt give two
fucks, but it would be interesting to know if they have spoken
again since then.....

These dudes must be ripe to do an album by now, even if they
cant get their shit together to tour....

What do you all reckon ???

I get the feeling that while Dave's management did their annual "ritual" with Ed & Alex, I don't think that there's been any "personal" contact between Dave & Ed.

No reason why, just a feeling I have. I think that Dave is probably taking the approach of lying back and waiting for Ed to come to him, possibly as a litmus test to see if Ed can accept the reality that Van Hagar is over, and NOW is the last chance for a CVH reunion.

I doubt Dave contacted Ed, but working as an EMT, Dave has contacted a few bums who went into ethilic coma and now are alive and well thanks to his intervention. He just checks in to see if the guys are doing well and playing clean.

So I guess Dave paid his dues already.

Touring is actualy easier (the songs are all already written, etc etc) and more profitable.

I doubt we'll ever hear new music from these guys, much less any reunion of any sort.

If they were to tour, I imagine they'd get a boxed set a la Springsteen's Tracks together and tour on the support of that.

Would be hard to imagine Dave still making overtures to these guys to reform the band. Read that interview where Dave mentioned his management approaching the Van Halens once per annum, too. Am sure Dave wants to see CVH reunited more than any of us, and the guy has more of an upbeat attitude than most. For Dave to want to keep trying with those guys takes a patience I definitely wouldn't have...sure, I could believe Roth would have sent word through VH's management that he's game for another go, but I'd just as soon he didn't. For him to even put himself in the position of being said "no" to by the sisters at this stage of the game is demeaning.
Dave doesn't need to contact Ed. The Van Halens know how to get in touch with him (not a case of Al saying "We wanted to tour with Dave in 2004, but lost his number"). They've made their mess, so they should be the ones to make the first move/call.

As for Dave doing the asking, I particularly don't think he has to. The Dutch Bums really fucked it up this time and it is just a matter of time for two things to happen:

1. Ed and Al call Dave to tour again;
2. Ed and Al don't call Dave and die in a few years from alcoholism, drug overdoses, or plain stupidity (Ed falling drunk on his ass and breaking his neck!)

Hey dude, no they never caught the Great Whites that killed that kid here. One of the sharks, the big one, came back the next day and they chased it out to sea. They are protected here so they will only kill them if they hang around.

I think it's inevitable that the brothers will get serious about a CVH reunion sooner rather than later. Particularly after last years monumental failure/fiasco/farce.

I think Ed's so fucked up because of all the strength he has to apply in order to keep up the bullshit act that CVH doesn't matter and might as well have never existed, it's slowly driving him crazy...all the pressure from that fans. I really wonder what would happen to his health if a CVH reunion was to go down and it was a massive sucess, i'd bet my ass that it would improve.

He can't keep on fooling himself...it is the ONLY era of Van Halen that has ever mattered and it could just save his worthless turd of a life.

You know, I've SERIOUSLY wondered more than once over the years if all the public shit-slinging, name calling, bad mouthing, etc...is nothing more than just good natured ribbing between old buddies who don't hang out that much anymore, but have no real long term hatred between them, all done just to keep public's interest up and message boards hopping...?

I have really wondered if the whole Dave vs. Sam vs. Van Halen business isn't just a game, honestly. Who could publically outslam the other, you know?

Let's not forget - so far as we've all been led to believe, the ONLY reason the 2000 reunion failed was because of the lawyers getting involved and the whole process grinding to a halt - nothing else, so far as we know.

I'll be honest, I've got old friends/band mates/et al that I could talk shit about all day, but I don't have any REAL animosity towards them, truth be told - it's just a matter of knowing that, well yeah, I could hang out with them on a regular basis for a year stretch or so if I had to, but since I don't have to, I won't because we just don't really see eye to eye on a lot of different issues. Doesn't mean I wish them death or anything, nor do they wish me anything, but shit-talking each other to everybody who will listen just kinda becomes force of habit. However, hell yeah, we could share the same room, drink a few, smoke, play pool, bullshit, jam, whatever, no problem, just so long as it wasn't a permanent situation because we'd just drive each other fucking nuts after a while. Basic reason? Our personalities just clash too much for extended communions with each other.

Maybe at the end of the day it's the same way between Dave and the sisters, and there's just not enough motivation, need and/or REAL desire to have to spend an extended amount of time with each other again? Dave's management makes the annual call to see if anything's gonna happen, nothing ever does, OK, try it again next year and see if things are in a better position for it...I don't know, I'm guessing obviously, but maybe it's not as venomous between all parties as everyone thinks? Who knows? Anything's possible with these guys, they've certainly proven that on a repeat basis.

I just hope, if that IS indeed the case, that somebody's doing some serious thinking and comes to the realization that an announcement before the end of 2005 and a tour starting end 2005/early 2006 is going to realistically be the last chance.

Frankly, Ed and Al KNOW what kind of money's there to be made; David knows it, too, and they all three know that Mike's gotta be there to make it work correctly. I don't think, given the right set of circumstances and the right legal arrangements, that they're going to shy away from it. On my note, even if I had these guys' financial security, I wouldn't walk away from it, not by a long shot. Besides, Ed and Al will need the revenue to cover all the lawsuits they're gonna be facing from the crap-ass turnout of Van Hagar 2004 - and they know it. Dave knows it, too.

I don't really think either that the Van Halens or Sammy are fooling themselves about the idea of another tour, not with how dismally the much hyped reunion turned out. And I don't think any promoters are fooling themselves at this point, either. So if Van Halen Inc. is going to do ANYTHING of significant note at all in the future, there's only one road to go down, and that ain't gonna be getting Graham Bonnet to sing for 'em.
