    Dave fans

    Question. Just curious thats all.

How big of a Dave fan are you?
Some people just like him in VH. Some just like his 2 first solo albums.

    Me?
I am a huge Dave fan. I love all of Dave's albums. When Dave and VH broke up I went with Dave. I followed Dave's career like a bounty hunter. He is my all time favorite singer.

Saw him frontrow table 2 nights in a row at Bally's in Vegas. (95)

Just curious where everyone stands on this subject.
    Thats all

He has caraaazma. Seriously, I liked VH as a band when I first purchased "Diver Down" when it first came out. However, I was more into Eddie's guitar playing. I thought Dave was obnoxious seeing him in interviews. Then I saw them live in '84 and that changed everything. I've seen Dave every time he's been in town.

I've seen '84 with VH, EEAS in '86, Skyscraper in '88 and YFLM in '94. I own all of his records and have read CFTH a million times. I've just always been inspired with his "Hit the ground runnin" philosophy about life.

The best thing that I have is a copy of EEAS that was personally autographed to me from Dave. My Dad had connections with a radio station in Denver. He went and met Dave and asked him to sign something for me. Dave gave my dad a copy of EEAS and wrote a personal auto to me. My dad said Dave was nothing like his stereotypical persona when he met him. My dad said that he was extremely genuine, happy to please his fans and was really appreciative and thankful to sign that for a young fan. Shit, look at what he did for Ashley Abernathy (sp)?

Hence, why do you think that I'm so fucking loyal towards the guy? He's hands down the best rock and roll frontman in history. No questions about it!

Good post Max. Yeah I can see your a real Dave fan. I was a Dave fan when the first VH album came out. Almost everyone was talking about the guitar player. I was like who is this singer with all this personality. Talking in songs. All his yells and screams.

I agree with you Sarge about what you said about Dave.

            I met with Dave's music in 1984.
And I have been loving Dave all the time. When Dave and VH was broken, I was also with Dave.
In fact, I am undergoing the medical treatment for being sick now.
When going to a hospital, I am always listening to the music of Dave.
I am always encouraged by his song.
His song is very powerful, his song makes my heart bright.
Therefore, I was very glad to have seen him in Japan in January.
Since I looked at him 18 years ago in Japan, I have cried by deep emotion, looking at his stage.
I want him to continue to tell us wonderful music.

            Thanks.

I forgot to tell you I have a signed EEAS Album. My friend owns an autograph signing business. He got Dave one night. Gave me the autographed signed EEAS album. I framed it with 3 mats. Shit spent more than 100 dollars to get it framed. Looks real good.

In my opinion DLR is the greatest singer and performer of all time.

All of his albums are great in VH and Solo. He puts on a hell of a concert with great singing, music, personality, and he puts humor in the performance as well.

His interviews is 120% more entertaining, than any other musician or band. He adds a little pence of humor, a bit of personality, and he also runs the show in the interview (blowing the interviewer away).

Dave is also what Made VH one of the best bands of all time.
It's always a party when he is around (sex, drugs, drinking, and Rock n' Roll).

This is a sum up for me I could go on for hours thew!!!!!!

I dig everything he does...I love his big rock stuff as much as the vegas boots...I can read his interviews and his book again and again and always find something new in it...I love to be surprised by the unexpected things he does...he's the essential entertainer...and a great storyteller...

I became a dave (not a =VH=) fan when I first heard "unchained"...I was blown away by the attitude of this man...and everytime I hear the first sream in "unchained" I somehow feel the defloration again...

I loved all of Van Halen's stuff, and a lot of Dave's solo stuff. (But not all of it) Things like "Look at all the people here tonight" and a lot of the covers off "Diamond Dave" dont really do it for me.

But the guy is a genious, thats for sure. His songs sound like he is storytelling, there is meaning. Both in lyrics and expression. Im always amazed by those that only see Dave as an over energetic, high kickin frontman. His craftmanship with songs is fantastic.

Hagar's screeching, pre-school rhymeing approach is second rate and painfully obvious in comparison.

I like all of Dave's stuff. Unlike Lou.

But, I like some parts of his career more than others. To me, nothing beats the Van Halen years. From Dave, or any other band.

I'm not that big of a fan of the EEAS stuff, but I still like it. I prefer ALAE and the DLR Band stuff over the EEAS stuff.

All of Dave's material is worth listening to though. You can't go wrong slapping on some Dave music.

As a fan my opinion has shifted over the years... when Dave was fronting VH. I really didn't take him all that seriously and sometimes thought he was a joke. Over the years though I've come to recognize the true unique entertainer he is. Very few artists create their own nitch or even genre with as much impact. Today I put him up in a zone that few attain from a legendary performer/entertainer which I rank him in the ranks of Hendrix, Robert Plant, Ozzy, Bonn Scott, Mick Jagar, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Randy Rhodes, Jeff Beck, Jimmie Page, Angus Young, Billy Gibbons, Janis Joplin, BB King, Louie Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, Jimmie Durante, Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, etc... All unique performers that maybe oft copied but never duplicated that made their special impact in the entertainment world.
