Funny Shit!! When I was Younger

Hey, i hope i don't get bashed for this, since i was 5 yrs old at the time.. But my mother bought me to 45 records from the store. One was just a giglo, and i think it had california girls on it too.. And the other was huey lewis happy to be stuck with you.. Now i was young, and stupid.. But, to me the voices sounded similar.. Now i look back at it, and i'm like DAMN what the hell was i thinking... I also never realized sammy was in van halen till 92 haha.. i wasen't a big fan.. I knew of van halen, but i always thought it was dave.. I thought sammy was solo.. I thought runaround, and the girl get's around were pretty much the same concept hahahahhahahhaha.. I offically got into van halen in 95.. But i hate balance.. I saw them with sam.. blah blah.. That's how i was introduced to it all.. I saw the truth.. I saw us festival, brazil, salo palo, and all the great vids... Every bootleg i bought was dlr, and i would constanly blast down in flames, and summertime blues... I had every 77 + thing you could think of HAHAHAHAHAHAHA... So, instantly loved dave.. And have been waiting for this reunion awhile.. Not as long as people that are older than I am, but a pretty long time.. Anyway, what a stupid kid i was... hahahaha I was "a dirty faced kid in a garbage can." LOL Now "I got a drink in my hand and my toes in the sand" =)

That's cool. So you didn't get into CVH until what year? 95 - 96? Talk about a late bloomer!

I feel fucking old when you said you were 5 when just a gigalo came out. Thanks fucker!

Hey man, great having someone with your enthusiasm on the boards. You're a stellar addition. Keep up the good work.

OOOOOH another stellar bootleg was from the skyscraper tour.. It was in Japan, i think... The vh songs sound a little different.. But hearing the solo stuff is great.. Like dave sayin "what's on the menu??" and then kickin into hot dog and a shake.. And the little redition of "wake up little suzie" with the whole band singing... I love that boot!!!!!!!!!! =) Well the woman is gettin' pissed.. Time for my buddy jack washed down with some coke, and well we all know what happens when you give a girl jack....

Well, I'm glad you came to your senses and realized Huey Lewis isn't Diamond Dave. :p

The tone of their voices is quite similar - especially on Gigolo and California Girls.

            Dave is a lion.

Huey Lewis sounds like a canary. :D

Believe it or not, Huey Lewis occasionally gets a flash of Rothian attitude.

They asked him if he would go on at 10:00 AM at Live Aid. Huey said "10:00?? My band doesn't finish puking until noon!"

It took me until 1997 to really get into Van Halen, I was 14-15 at the time. I caught the Cherone era, unlucky me, and I had a chance to go see them in Melbourne on the 17th of March, I remember the date I must have been soo excited. But I didn't go and soon after I started to hear (in the music) the band were false, lifeless, old, pretenders. I must admit I was into Sammy but he still made me cringe, so I guess when I really hit University in 2000 was my Roth 'Vision of life' or 'Vision of light' depending on which you prefer. And It's Dave or the grave now!! The first song I ever liked from Van Halen was Jump and then later on Dreams. I loved 'em both!! I used to listen to this guy's voice, it was soo cool, so calm, so in charge, like a 'listen to me, believe in me and we can't be beat' kind of power. I was hooked, must have been only 8 or 9 years old. That was Dave. And Sammy, well... it sounded very cool, epic keyboards, nice non-threatening-to-little-kiddy guitar solos, Sammy's ultra high vocals. But it just wont match my favourite all time VH song, 'Light Up The Sky'... no wait 'In A Simple Rhyme' ... no sorry 'Atomic Punk' ...
I'm very proud of what was that band and what was that show and what it did mean to people. It disgusts me that it has turned into the complete opposite. That it now represents everything that I spoke against, that we suppoesedly represented the converse of. I don't want to have to remember that the team turned into that. Makes me question what the team was while I was a member. Was it all bullshit? If nothing else, it confirms in my mind that from my standpoint - yours truly, David Lee - not a fraction. If nothing else, this kind of morbid, wounded animal anger aimed my way has caused me to look deep into that bathroom mirror and come back to you with "my shit was legit." It was for real. And perhaps the test is time. Because here I am, a decade and a half later, haven't changed much. I look a little different, but not much. My sense of humour is about the same.
