    the truth hurts

after reading several posts from time to time,i feel it is now time for me to be part of the discussion.just got through listening to me wise magic and can't get this stuff no more and the truth hit me smack dab square in the face.

these two songs capture the old van halen spirit better than anything eddie and the guys have done since.

forget sammy,or any body else. dave was right back when interviewed during the short lived reunion days, about recapturing the van halen magic and the vibe. when he is part of the equation, van halen is iconic, without him they are moronic.

will eddie ever listen to his own ears and do the right thing?

until then we the true fans must suffer.

c'mon eddie, give us a break

No shit, those songs rock. The Van Halen brothers really pissed me off when they said if they would of toured with Roth in 96' in would of been an embarrassment, and ripping of the fans. I don't get it? I've seen Roth like 7 times in the last 10 years, he still kicks major ass. The Van Halen brothers are the ones who have the "lead singer disease"

The whole way the 1996 CVH reunion was blown is probably the one thing Ed and Al have done since 1985 that by far pisses me off the most. And the only reason it didn't happen, far as I can tell, is that Ed and Al wanted control of the band from top-to-bottom, and realized soon after Dave walked in and began recording MWM and CGTSNM with them that Roth wasn't gonna sit back and let things run without his input. Am also thinking that when Dave started saying they should split the proceeds equally between the four ("same as always"), the Van Halens disagreed because they thought they were doing Dave a favor by letting him back.

This whole "The 1996 Dave isn't the same as the 1984 Dave", implying that Roth wasn't any good by 1996, is hogwash, because if he sucked as bad as they said, why are they putting those two 1996 CVH songs alongside what they consider their greatest hits?

Ed and Al damn well knew that a majority of people were psyched to see classic Van Halen reunited. They knew what the fans wanted. Just as they didn't want to concede any input to Sam and Dave, so they didn't want to be dictated to by the fans, hence them doing what they wanted to and bringing in Cherone, who was gonna do whatever Ed told him to. Instead of getting what we wanted, we got some guy from a hair band who sounded like he was impersonating Hagar on Van Halen 3, and a bunch of lies as to why Dave wasn't there ("Boo-hoo, Dave said 'fuck you' to me, so now I'm gonna kick him in the balls, he'd better be wearing a cup." Who the fuck did Ed think he was kidding with this tough guy act? Would have had more respect for Ed if he had actually thrown down with Dave backstage, rather than waited a month to talk about how he WAS GONNA kick Dave's ass, 'cept the tour manager stepped between them).
Yep. 1996 and every year that has passed since just reinforce the notion that Ed and Al really don't give a shit about their fans anymore. Hey, Roth bailed in 1985. Halens decided to continue with Hagar...probably shouldn't have kept the name Van Halen, but whatever. Dave wanted to go solo and the Van Halens didn't want to work with him. In 1996, Roth wanted to go all the way with a Van Halen reunion, can guarantee you a majority of fans (even those who had willingly settled for less with Van Hagar over the previous decade) wanted to see and hear what CVH would do....everybody wanted it, but Ed and Al didn't want it if it meant giving up any control. That's what it all comes down to.

Terry, very fucking true, very fucking true. When I heard those two songs, it was Classic VH all over again. It pisses me off how the Sisters acted about it! You know what, Edward acted like one of those Mexican American bitchy girls who want to kick whoever-gave-them-a- wrong-look-or-accidentally-bumped-into-them 's ass. How immature!

"So there, I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night. So, Jeff Beck pops his head 'round the door, and mentions there's a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it's closed. So there's me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they've got this bloody great big bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopkeeper and his son... that's a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes...Nasty business, really, but sure enough I got the M&Ms, and Ozzy went on stage and did a great show..."

Yeah c'mon, everyone knows when they heard Dave give the scream in the second chorus of MWM the goose bumps magically appeared on the arms...

Dave is and will always be what true Van Halen lovers see as Van Halen...

Ed plays guitar and Alex plays the drums, but Dave is Van Halen....

Ed and Al are such dumb, miserable wretches that THEY are not the reason VH became successful that it eats at their bone marrow...

They've tried SO HARD for SO LONG to get off from under Dave's shadow, only to wind up in the darkest spot. Dave made VanHalen, PERIOD. He told them what to do, what to play, how to dress, how to act... shit, if you think FOR ONE SECOND he didn't tell Ed which riffs ruled, and which ones sucked, YOU'RE FUCKING INSANE. ClassicVH is the soundtrack to the wildest party in the history of the world, whereas VanHagar is the soundtrack to the biggest snoozefest possible. Dave built an empire, that Sam, Ed, and Al went OUT OF THEIR WAY to tear down. A perpetual state of horrible decision-making has made VH the laughing stock of Classic Rock, not only that, but their once-reknowned live shows have disinagrated into a state of laughable, amateur-hour NONSENSE, as has Ed's playing. I can personally play "Unchained" better than Ed, and THAT is the DAMNDEST BOTTOM LINE, I EVER BOTTOM LINED!!
