I only told them what I knew: it was a song created by Louis Prima, a great American singer who found success in the 50s (maybe the 40s too). The song has remained an American classic.
I don't know more about him (fortunately, no kid asked me more).

The idea of teaching abroad often comes to my mind... But I would teach my own language in America, of course (French musicians aren't exactly rocking... :D ). I know it is possible. At least it would get me out of the fatal weariness of teaching!

But how hard it is to see that all these youngsters don't know, beyond true hand-made music, what a real performer is...

As they were listening full blast with their headphones on, I could hear Dave's screams (during the sax solo) and see at the same time the kids' eyes wide open, their grinning faces...
45 minutes with Dave... I'm sure they still have him singing in their heads by now.

Excellent work Jerome! "Rock Poetry" is always an ENGLISH lesson I've liked, but you need the right group of kids or you have to endure their 50 CENT crap!

Cheers, Nick! Compliments from a colleague are priceless! :D

That's right. In the beginning, they often complain about the artist that's been chosen, but in most cases they're delighted in the end.

I spend most of my time trying to persuade my friends about the delights of Van Halen.

this friend of mine who's 16, Amelia, she was busy on ebay looking for albums, and I knew she kinda dug Van Halen(I sent her Beautiful Girls and she loved it), so I told her to get one of their albums, and she got Fair Warning, which arrived today!

I got another friend of mine, a girl called Allie, also to buy Fair Warning, her copy hasnt arrived yet though.

I feel like cos I'm "enlightened" I gotta do my best to pump up Van Halen awareness, especially in girls. I'd love to go out with a girl who loves Van Halen as much as me. a lil' dream of mine.hehe

hehe..I can relate to this. I'm a chick and l love classic Van Halen. I was hanging out with this dude this weekend and we started talking about Van Halen. I had brought some music to the party we were at, and of course I brought a shit load of Van Halen. The guy was like "You like Van Halen! A chick who likes Van Halen is like the most awesome thing ever! I'm very impressed!" I was like "Dude, I like to rock, and if it rocks, I'll be listening to it!"

Anyway, Jérôme Frenchise great job on educating the youth. I have to agree: 5 stars for you!

Damn, I wish I knew guys that liked VH. That would make me so fucking happy. I'm one of only two people that I know, as well as the only girl, that is a Van Halen fan (the other fan is my dad).
