Most print critics never cared for Roth anyway. CVH got plenty of scathing reviews from 1978-1984, and the decent reviews they did manage to get tended to say Ed was a great guitarist who was being held back by Roth. The same reviewers creamed their shorts when 5150 was released, blathering about how much better the band sounded with Sammy in it, wah wah wah.

Diamond Dave isn't my fave DLR solo release either, but Roth is still the bomb, regardless of what age and era he finds himself in.

That album sells on its own terms...it's not promoted in any way...just word of mouth...like the party requests....and that is the real deal.

The point is, what you posted wasn't a review as much as it was the assisination of a Rock legend (and the one everyone on this site seems to like a fair bit). I've read negative reviews before, and they are just that, simply reviews. They are opinion pieces. But what you posted was someone who went out of their way to not criticize the recording but to criticize the man.
