I think he was more than gracious in letting the
other members who left his band, continue to use
his band name.

Everyone knows that Van Halen died at that moment.
Only to resurface briefly when Dave decided to
let the old band members record with him again

The old backing section tried with a few mediocre
frontmen. Will Dave let the old members back into
his Van Halen ?? I hope so...

Val had a big part in it. I think it was Detriot 83 when life magazine did a landmark article on Van Halen. Dave told Eddie to make sure she wasn't in town because she always tried to make everybody look like husbands and that wasnt the image he was trying to convey. Eddie went crazy and that was the start of the break up. I can hear eddie in my ears to this day "who the hell is this fucking guy to tell me anything." She stayed home but it was never the same again. Dave had two favorite days in Van Halen, that life magazine weekend and the US fest. Eddie hated both of them and made no bones about it. That was the turning point. When Eddie was married Dave got him to do blow right before he met Val at the alter. Val never forgot that. Revenge was in the air and Dave lost the battle to Ed being pussy whipped.
