If you have Dave do the show, he'd have to compete against Robert Plant, Billy Idol and a slew of other rock LEGENDS.
The show is for One Hit Wonders... Dave has an entire catalogue of songs that get radio airplay every day in every city in America.
Dave should not do the show. He should, however, do a real tour and let put out an album of ORIGINAL music (blues, hard rock, folksy, techno...whatever, just ORIGINAL MUSIC). with his band.
Ray Luzier has said, many diff times that they have music ready for Dave to put melodies and lyrics to...unlike VH.
If all he wants is exposure, he's smart enough about music to write a few catchy poppy songs and get them in a commercial or whatever. I'm sure he could go on Conan and perform a couple songs.
The thing is, besides a reunion with VH for purposes of "closure", it doesn't seem like Dave really cares how popular he is any more...which I think is damn admirable. I don't think he should. I'm only going on the British version of the Programme but it seems to be for pop stars more than rockstars. I reckon it'd be a bad career move. It's quite likley he would lose (not being what i guess the programme is aimed for) and thatn it'd be a little embarassing.
