    Help me confirm this Rothism

"To be or not to be. Shakespeare.
To be is to do. Voltaire.
    Shoo-be, doo-bee. Sinatra, baby!"

    Is this how it goes?
Where did I get it anyway?
Can anybody source this or confirm?

    Thanks!!!

    It's a little wrong. I saw this on a t-shirt before.

To be is to do - either Socrates or Plato
To do is to be - either Socrates or Plato (can't remember which is which)
Do be do be do - Sinatra
    Same ole song and dance...

My philosophy teach got a kick out of it when he came in one day and I had written it on the board. I didn't confess. :D

        Anyhoo...

I don't think Dave said it originally. It was on a t-shirt in an art catalog. He probably had the same catalog I did.

Thanks, NG. The catalog thought may be why I couldn't find it as a Rothism!

Hey, I used to write rock-inspired sayings up on the board in college. Nice. I try that in the conference room at work too.

I think Roth has stolen quite a few lines over the years but whatever...

Actually I think you're maybe getting mixed up, I don't think he's even used this one.
