my question is............since it was similar to "girl gone bad" i often wonder what Roth thought of that song when he first heard it........

why wasnt it used then........too abstract??..........trippy?? i dunno......

but it does sound like the beggining of "GGB" just different effects...

as a matter of fact it uses the same chords.............

    something to think about

I wasnt refering to the fact, about thinking, about the song.........

I was refering to the way and time the idea of the song was concieved..

it is from the latter part of the roth era of VH...........have you heard it??

IT STARTS LIKE GIRL GONE BAD...................with effects.............same shit

that is what i am talking about................ not that it was a FUCKING VAN HAGAR SONG.............

the intro is very similar..............SAME CHORD PROGRESSION AND TECHNIQUE...............

A5 and F chord tapped harmonics in arpegiated form............but the effects are different..............

"song was written because of a close friend that commited suicide....whether or not is was then in '84 or 95 is a mystery to me....."

according to interviews, the song was inspired by the death of ed leffler, their former manager who passed away around the Balance period. BUT, that is lyrically inspired. the music is definitely 84ish. based soley on the fact you can hear the "Ripley" effect that was used on top jimmy. and the creepish resemblance to girls gone bad.

Yeah...it wasn't the fact that Van Hagar just plain stunk, it was that they didn't have the right MATERIAL that truly rocked.....now I see the light!! I'm looking at the stuff Van Halen put out with Hagar on vocals in a different light!!!

                      Er........not so much.

yeah thats pretty much the case..............

they always picked the shitiest song to release.............

alot of good material gone to waste...........sam had too much control and leffler was his puppet.............

never released the good heavy/hard rocking songs..........

always that stupid wannabe love ballad crap.........

all the shit that was intended for roth should've been recorded and released.........

ed just wants you to think..........all his shit is new.........and it isn't......

                        he contradicts himself alot.........

Bottom line is that it was Ed and Sam that came up with that crap. Blaming their management rings hollow, 'specially with those last 3 slabs o' poo, because Al is their de facto manager, now.

                            What good material fuckstick?

With Van Hagar there is no such thing as good material,

never was, never will be. Get it?

Aftershock........ back in 95 before the reunion fiasco........

he was asked his opinion of the Van Hagar release "balance"

dont get me wrong I like ROTH..........I am just stating what I've read..

                                did he really say that?

Aftershock seemed like a crude rip off of "Enter Sandman" to me
