Then, when they appeared on MTV and Dave was all bravado & bullshit, playing the rockstar again? Remember that?

So what if when Dave tastes the spotlight he morphs into "Super Dave"? Is that such a bad thing? Rock'n'Roll needs larger than life figures, otherwise why are Kiss more popular with makeup on? Why can't Led Zeppelin be a band without John Bonham?

We NEED the illusion of Rock'n'Roll beoing something larger than we are, otherwise - WHAT IS THE POINT??

Then we'd have Everyman Van Halen ignoring our funky asses until he needed us to buy concert tickets, then he could be "Oh So Humble" Van Halen once again.

Hagar said the same thing about him on the Sam & Dave tour. He said he was very different when they met to discuss the tour, but turned back into his old self on the road.

ITS HIS ROCKSTAR CHARACTER. HE NEEDS TO STAY IN CHARACTER AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WHILST ON THE ROAD.
