My partner and I did some PR work for Dave about a year ago. During our dealings with Dave and his manager, Matt, we tried to convince them to let us take over his site. We had some really unique ideas that I think would have made for a very entertaining Dave-like site. Dave's manager would freak out every time I brought up the the idea of redesigning his site. He even insisted that I NEVER mention the subject to Dave. i have no idea what his problem was.
Anyway, a company called e-haus runs the site but the content is strictly dictated by Dave. Unfortunately Dave is not Internet saavy. He once told me, "I don't do the Internet". That's why his site used to have those giant pictures on it. He would tell the people at e-haus, "Make it bigger" because he has a 21 inch monitor and he wanted the images to fill up the entire screen.
Dave is a hyperkenetic force of nature and i believe his manager is unable to focus or direct DLR toward constructive endeavors. Dave's manager is more of a yes-man and on several occasions I actually got the impression that he was AFRAID of DLR. It always seemed to be a case of "Give Dave what he wants" rather than "Help Dave see why another option might be superior."
Ultimately it is frustrating that Dave's site is so bleak. Like his personality, DLR's web presence should be a three ring circus not a two bit sideshow.
