    EVH 1998 Interview...

I was visiting a friend this weekend, and he actually had a few old ass "Guitar World" magaizines, one particularly interesting was one with EVH on the cover, wearing a "Who the fuck is EDDIE VAN HALEN?" t-shirt. So I ask my friend If I can have the magazine, and he agreed(Apperently, according to him, the only reason why he bought it was for the blink 182 tab? )

    Moving along...

It was the March 1998 issue(obviously post Sammy dump, CVH reunion blow up, early Cherone era) and Eddie gave and interview, which shed a light on a few things regarding Eddie's take of the Failed Cvh reunion, and exactly why VH3 sucked as much as it did.

Most of the interview, was boring as hell, frankly, it was just Eddie being a pompous ass talking about how he's zen, and how he doesn't let shit bother him, and how he's doing great without alchohol...blah blah blah, sort of bs. The more interesting things that I found, was his apporach to making the music for VH3. Supposedly, the only thing Eddie had to work with was just a page full of lyrics, handed by cherone...Which explains a lot quite frankly. Because this ment eddie had to come up with a melody and a feel for a song, which clearly explains why a lot of the songs on VH sound alike, since the Diamond one was always the one who came up with the melodies, and Sam and Dave wrote most of the songs. The only song Eddie wrote, mostly by himself, was (you guessed it) "Without you"...

The other third of the interview was basically(like in typical EVH fashion) was talking shit about Roth and Hagar(EVH has to be quite possibly the biggest user of congitive dissonace in rock and roll history)

Basically saying that Dave's book[Crazy from the Heat] wasn't worth reading, supposedly because eddie knew DLR better than he probably knew himself, then later characterizing DLr as a "Disgrunted Postal worker" Saying stuff like the only reason he invited DLR back to the band for new tracks was because he was looking out for Dave's best interest, by wanting him to get away from doing vegas shows, to putting a rock band back together.(could that be a bigger load of shit?)

I think the biggest crock of shit though out the whole interview is when he decided to slam both DLr and Sam at the same time., quoted on saying "I'll take a lie Detector test, because both theys guys are lying, they're both full of shit." saying "both Roth and Sammy were just slinging shit at us"...playing mr victem.

This interview, was probably one of the finner moments of Ed's bliggerant, and drunk behavior, mostly because it was so entertaining.
It's a worth while read, for anybody who wants to hear(or care for) eddie's side of the story, and see what has to be one of the biggest reasons why a cvh reunion might never happen again.
The Roth Army needs a leader who demonstrates the three "A's",

    Attitude, Awesomeness, America.

Up until Van Halen 3 was released, Ed could still labor under the delusion that Van Halen was gonna go onto commercial success with Cherone. That whole period from the 1996 MVAs until the 'Without You' single was released just saw Ed digging a hole for himself in the press. He acted like he had done Roth a favor by bringing him back for the 2 songs on BOV1, when in reality Roth coming back was just as beneficial to Van Halen as it was to Dave.

The whole fallout, post-MVAs just saw Ed and Al convinced that their bullshit media spin was working, and people were somehow gonna forget that Roth wanted to be in the band, and everybody was gonna accept Cherone. When Ed was giving interview after interview telling us how the stuff he was coming up with Cherone was the best stuff he'd ever created, all I could think of was what Ed had said after Roth bailed, prior to 1986's 5150, with such shit like " [CVH] was a tester model. [Van Hagar] is the real deal." All it proved to me is that, left to his own devices, Ed has developed a fucking terrible ear for the stuff he's coming up with.
