Lets start with Eddie Van Halen: You know Eddie is a 10 when it comes to seeing him on stage playing without hitting the bottle beforehand, but I recently saw him and I’d probably have to give him a 2 because he was literally loaded as fuck and he could not even walk correctly. I think the guy’s got a probably with hitting the bottle a little too much nowadays. Yeah, it’s too bad because you can tell visually he’s got a problem with booze. He’s still one of the most influential guitarist of his time, of course.

CC DeVille.........probably the only guy in Poison who doesn't totally suck, due to the goofability factor; he never pretended to be anything better than he was, and, if you play guitar, just listening to the guy is always good for a chuckle.

Back in 2002 I was given free tickets to one of those Cinderella and Poison shows. I thought...what the hell it's free. So I sat through Cinderella...and they weren't too bad, then Poison came out. It had to be one of the shittiest things I've seen. I never liked Poison to begin with, but this was just pure shit. Anyone who calls Jimmy Page sloppy has never seen CC DeVille play live. In fact...I should be shot for even mentioning those two together in the same sentence.

Back in the mid-80s I bought an issue of Circus magazine.

On the inside of the back cover, there was this picture of four people in heavy makeup and poofy hair.

I called my drummer and said "Hey man there is this all-female rock band out now called Poison!"

I remember a posion/aeroshit/whitesnake (with vai) package back in the days in berlin. and they played Unskinny bop and used a playback (!!!) for the chorus...so far so shitty...but they got the part where they add some "bop" and have one more beat to the chorus (if I remember the song correctly I haven't heard for a looong time) and the techician fucked it up so the chorus and the music were totally off beat...we were some musicians there and thought "WTF...this is so pussified"

Kinda bugs me when the music media describe Poison as a heavy metal band. They never were fuckin' metal to begin with. Just a bunch of sheep dressed in wolves clothing.....

Seemed like any bunch of dickweeds who had long hair and wore spandex could get classified as heavy metal or hard rock back in the day.....but AT BEST I'd consider Bon Jovi, Poison, Trixter, Warrant and Cinderella pop-rock, and even that designation is a diplomatic benefit of the doubt, in terms of balls and heaviness.

I found a taped live recording from Donnington 1988 recently in the attic and it sounds like a shitty local band playing their stuff.

I still maintain Poisons first album had something, like a punky thing going on but maybe it was just Michael Wagner saving it in post production or me remembering part of the soundtrack to a good Summer.

I wouldn't put Cinderella or Faster Pussycat in the same category at all.

Cinderella were AC/DC with a glam look and Faster Pussycat at the time were cool and could play their(ableit basic catchy blues based rock) very well live.
