SAMMY HAGAR Says EDDIE VAN HALEN 'Used To Be A Great Guy'

SAMMY HAGAR Says EDDIE VAN HALEN 'Used To Be A Great Guy' - July 20, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports: After spending most of 2004 back with VAN HALEN, Sammy Hagar says he's in no hurry to do it again. The group did tour North America and record three new songs for a greatest hits album, but Hagar told Launch that what he once called a "continuation" has reached its conclusion — and he puts the blame solely on guitarist Edward Van Halen. "I don't get along with Eddie anymore, and that's all there is to it," he said. "I think the whole world knows that he's changed. And I don't know what his problem is, but he's miserable and he likes to make everyone around him miserable. And I'm the happiest guy on the planet, and anybody who makes me miserable I don't want to be around. And so, that's a simple way to put it."

Hagar did not completely rule out the possibility of working with VAN HALEN again, however. "Maybe he'll change, you know," he said. "He used to be a great guy. He used to be a fun guy and wasn't miserable. You know, I mean, he went through the cancer thing and all that, but he should be grateful and not miserable. That's the way I look at it. Maybe he'll change. If he changes, we can do it again."

Hagar resumed touring as a solo act this year. His "The Tequila Made Me Do It" tour, during which he'll play with both MONTROSE and his own band, THE WABORITAS, begins August 6 in Clarkston, Michigan.

Hagar also operates another group, LOS TRES GUZANOS, which features VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony.

It was one year ago today that the VAN HALEN greatest-hits album "The Best Of Both Worlds" came out. It featured three new songs that Hagar recorded with the band — "It's About Time", "Up For Breakfast", and "Learning To See".

Eddie says: "I don't have a drinking problem. It's your problem if you can't drink. Even spiderman drinks. Why should I give up? I wanna be a superhero too {hic}!""

If history is any guide, when Sammy slams Ed, there could be some Van Halen activity without him.

I knew there had to be an excuse, as no sane person would tour with that pile of shit Hagar considers his "musical library."

"Operates" a group??? WTF?? Are all these groups just "subsidiaries" of the vast Hagar empire???

Like "Shoebox Greetings: a tiny little division of Hallmark"???

Keep running your yap Sammy.....please. Every word brings EVH one step closer to banging on DLR's door.

Sammy might be more classless than the brothers when they originally split from Dave....based on assholness alone he is the perfect fit for the bros. VH..

this trainwreck couldnt have been predicted better here...it actually unfolded even quicker than expected...

Sambo's just trying to distance himself from last years trainwreck.

Sorry, Fat Boy. Ain't gonna work. You were a participant. If you thought the three tracks on BOBW weren't up to snuff, and the ticket prices were too high, then you shoulda done something about it before releasing the album and selling the tickets. Taking part in the debacle and then trying to lay all the blame at Ed's feet ain't gonna reduce your culpability.

                  Ya tubby, whiny fuck!

I think somebody mentioned on another board that SAMMY's people handled a lot of the ticket pricing and scheduling since he already had the tour organization in place. I don't know how true that is, but it wouldn't the first time this asshole has lied to cover his ass.

I can't fucking believe it. This guy STILL thinks that Van Hagar has a future. Is he really THAT stupid?

Delusional cock-juggler! If I was him I'd just shut my mouth.

Van Hagar couldn't be more obviously finished.

Years ago DLR stated that Eddie isn't happy unless he is unhappy. So Sham is behind the 8 ball, as usual.
