Almost makes me wonder if there is something else going on behind the scenes with Dave's involvement....

I think Dave is disappointed and ANGRY.
But I also think Dave knows that the fans do not want this Van Hagar tour. So he gets satisfaction in this.

Frankly, I don't think Dave gives a flying fuck anymore.
Don't get me wrong, Dave is the only member of the band who truly grasps what Classic VH means to people and how special the music was, BUT I also think that after the deception Eddie pulled back in '96 and then again in '00 has basically left Dave with a bitter taste in his mouth. If anything, Dave is probably feeling gratification in seeing Eddie finally expose himself for the phony that he is, and also seeing this Van Hagar reunion suffering from a severe lack of interest in the media, the internet, and most rock stations across North America.

I'd think any bitterness over not reuniting with Van Halen on Dave's part would have dissipated after the 1996 fiasco blew over.

If anything, he'll be smiling at the thought of Sammy warbling in his one-key scream, skipping his tubby ass around the stage, trying yet again in vain to show everybody that he's so much better than Dave, and failing miserably to convince any but the already converted.

Anyone with a modicum of taste already knows what the definitive Van Halen lineup was. Just listen to the radio; classic Van Halen. Christ, even the lead in tunes to announcements of the Van Hagar reunion are invariably classic Van Halen tunes.
