I dunno if there is a secret stash anywhere or not. But if there is, I suppose the boys see it as a retirement package.

So then the question becomes not "Is there a stash?" but how to optimize the value of that stash...will the value of such a retirement package deteriorate further as time passes... or if they are just waiting till one of them kicks the bucket... and at that time, will it increase in value?

Dave commented in 2004 that he thinks there should have been CVH box sets, live vids and all the rest, and said something to the effect that the reason it hasn't happened yet has to do with Van Halen's managers.

Leads me to conclude that Roth doesn't have the legal right to release any of that stuff on his own without Van Halen's and/or WB's approval.

Wouldn't doubt Dave has some CVH material kicking around somewhere.

Yeah. Not really sure what the underlying reasons for the suit were beyond what Roth said, which seemed have to do with renegotiating of his royalty percentage on the CVH back catalog sales, or that he wasn't getting the money he felt he was owed (or whatever).

By the time the suit was brought, Roth probably figured his chances of reuniting with Van Halen were slim to none after the whole 1996 debacle anyway.

Guy feels he's getting screwed, can't say I disagree with him bringing legal pressure to bear.

Its been said many times many ways... its all the lawyers fault that Dave wasn't on the 2004 tour! But its all bull shit anyway. Who pays the damn lawyers?

Whats so fucked up about it is that none of them are seriously hurting for money. Sure. Dave deserves his due, and I am not saying he don't. All I am saying is that its us fans who are paying the price.

So, just out of curiosity, when Dave does his shows, performing mainly Classic Van Halen hits... do Ed Al and Mike get a cut of that?
