Sorry, that post wasn't a joke. I thought that although VH3 shouldn't have been a Van Halen release (just like anything without Dave), it was the best I've heard of Eddie SINCE 1984. and the album was extremely underrated, IMO. I thought that if it was released under a different band name, or maybe even as a Gary Cherone effort with special guest Ed, Al & Mike - it would've been a more credible release.

I'm a big Extreme fan - especially of Extreme's first 2 CDs, and I thought that - after listening to VH1 & VH2 and Extreme 1&2 - this album would shred anything close to Van Hagar. After all, Cherone is IMO the world's most successful ROTH fan.

Gary NEVER bashed Dave, NEVER wanted to sing any Van Hagar stuff on tour but had to b/c of Eddie, and did a great job of covering the classic stuff.

    UNLIKE SPAM M*F***ING HAGAR

Hiring a Roth fan to tour with Van Halen isn't as good as having Roth back, but it's still better than Spammy - and that's my point.

cherone paid respect for dave and the stuff he did...but just acted like a pole-smoking-jimmy-summerville-wannabe on stage...

and whatever the VHIII record may sound like (never really listened to it) the last song is "how many say I" and that song is the worst piece of shit ever put on a record with the name VAN HALEN on it...

I cant comment .I Drove a Van, haven't listened or purchased any thing
with Van on it since ,well you know when.

I really should do the whole scenario everything since 85 its got to have some good guitar ,bass and drums ,arrangements and so forth.

Hearing hagar that much wuold f me up.I would be more well rounded
in discusions or jus take the word of peoples OP i respect and remain
        ignorant.

            DLRengineroom I agree with you.

didnt Cherone only do 1 token Hagar song per album.(he did far more Roth tunes).

BUT,How Many Say I was practically an EVH solo track.

and to think 4 years previously,he;d been laughing at "no big ting"

                      Yup. Even worse than that.

The so-called "harmonies" between Gary and Eddie sound like two cats getting ready to fight in an alley.

You can actually hear Gary straining as he makes his way up and down the scale to find what key Eddie is singing in.

Unfortunately most people can't harmonize in the key of "drunk."

I saw Van Halen with Gary Cherone play at a festival in Germany. Great show.
Ed was playing his arse off and having a great time. Gary's performance was also top notch.

I dont understand why people here hate Gary Cherone so much.
True, VanHalen III is an awful album, but thats more to do with just overal crap songs rather than bad vocal performance. I would also prefer to see Van Halen perform with Gary Cherone than Sammy Hagar as they played alot of the classic stuff which Sammy never wanted to sing.

I'm sure the public opinion here is what it is because this time Eddie really had the chance to take Dave back...but he didn't...and all the anger...it's not so much against Gary...it's against Eddie.
