I for one and also a huge fan of the hair metal thing.

      Always have been.

No bigger Ratt fan than me, I've seen them 16 times in concert.

I even like Pearcy's cover of Runnin' With The Devil on the VH Tribute.

But I don't put the 2 bands on the same plane, so I'm all for VH's Unchained first, but am in appreciation of the poll and thread and am interested to see the responses.

I don't need to those songs are ingrained in my brain.

I'm not saying they don't have some things in common but they are like two dissimilar things in a pod.

I can say that the poll has restored my faith in the RothArmy community... with all the wars and sheep pens and dumps and arguments, I wanted to see if, when the air cleared, we all come together and agree on things that matter... like Van Halen... and it appears there is still hope for the future. lol

            Rock on!

            That is all.

P.S. However, Pojo will remain in "timeout" just a bit longer... lol

For some reason, the "Lay It Down" riff is stuck in my head now. Definetely another re-work.

LMAO....what the fuck have you been drinking, conmee?

'Lay It Down' was always my favorite Ratt tune...well that and 'Wanted Man.'

I do think Warren DeMartini borrowed a lot from EVH.

The biggest Ed Clone out there in the 80' has to be Vito Bratta of White Lion.

I had a Hairband flashback after taking a "what kind of rocker are you" quizz

Downloaded little fighter, and yeah thats an eddie wanna be.

White Lion was a VH wannabe. Kind of funny that James Lomenzo ended up playing for Dave.

I think one of the most blatent rip offs was the Bullet Boys.

Variation on a theme is a nice way of saying it. I learned to play the verse of Round and Round before I learned Unchained (correctly). The songs are really close from the guitar players perspective, but it was the 80s, who wasn't trying to rip off van halen?

By the time Vito Bratta came along, Eddie had lost it though with his solos being a formulaic mess of blandness.

Bratta's playing was what Eddies should have been.

All the 80's guitarists were influenced by EVH, but a couple, like Warren Di Martinin and George Lynch managed to be influenced while still sounding original. You want a real EVH ripoff, take that fucking guy from Loudness!!!! Whatever his name was....
