Hagar was never anything special to me BEFORE he joined Halen, but about the only stuff of Sam's I can tolerate is his solo stuff pre-VOA. Back then, he was just mediocre, as opposed to flat-out annoying.
Did Anyone See Roy Before "joining" Vh

unfortunately i've seen the fucker twice
once in 1983 he was second billed on the texas jam (spelled texxas)
stupid fucking concert: sammy hagar, styx headlined i think maybe triumph or ted nugent played
and then on the sammy and daye tour at the woodlands outside of houston, stupid fucking concert, dave opened so it sucked
sammy's concerts are so fucking boring, it's like seeing jimmy buffet if jimmy buffet gained 75 pounds and lacked any talent at allComment

Actually no-one ever saw him before Van Halen coz he never had a pay-check before then and was quite skinny since he couldn't afford to eat much. After the VH pay-checks started coming in he got fatter and fatter, and then you could see him quite easily... though you'd wish you hadn't!!!Comment

He was lame then and nothing has changed in 27 years.
I remember 2 things about the concert:
1. Nobody had heard of Sammy Hagar
2. Nobody cared
Sammy has always sucked musically. He's always been a wannabe rocker. Some people can't see it, but others see right through him and it bothers him, because he knows it's true.Comment

Ya know, its funny, Prior to Sam joining VH, he was a nobody -- a B grade level rock performer who spent nearly ten years as an opening act.
Granted, Sam may have headlined some of his own shows by the time VOA and cant drive 55 (1984), but that was only in select cities where idiots would actually pay a ticket to see him.
Sam would've fizzled out by the end of the 80s had he not met Eddie.
In fact, he owes his career, his stupid Tequila franchise, to not only Eddie but to Dave as well.
Everytime Dave's name gets mentioned, often so does Sammy's in the context of VH.
That fucker owes his career to them.=V V=

So how in the fuck does this relate to Roth?
Someone mentioned that when Dave is mentioned, Glam's name come's up soon thereafter. Yeah, great, and the truth.
but why mention Glam, without a Dave mention until the fucking 24th post?
This shouldn't be in main, Glam should be discussed in a shit bowl.
Now, if you have a Montrose CD, pop it in, and actually listen to it.
Pretty Good?
Nah, not when you compare it to the upper echelon bands of their time period.
and their music just didn't sustain.
Glam has been nothing but a song WHORE from the start.Comment
