Its like the doors... or should i say "Riders on The Storm" the only difference is that the drummer realized how much the band sucked without Jim and he quit and threatened to sue them if they kept using the name. It's way more difficult to replace a bassist drummer or even a guitarist than it is to replace a lead singer. Especially in the case of van halen and the doors because jim and dave have such distinct ways of singing that cant be mimicked.

Why do women need driver's Licenses? there aren't many roads between the bedroom and the kitchen.

The hall of fame this, record sales that. It s all a crock of shit. its all part of the crappy system that is bringing rock music down.

The hall of fame and MTV are just of fuck whits trying to tell you that this is cool and this is not. MTV is a classic example of the assholes who control music.

I saw the MTV icon thing on metallica. FUCK THAT WAS SAD. The crowd were a bunch of pretty fuck heads wearing designer sunglasses and 17 year old girls who CLEARLY had no idea about the band that was being honoured. There was a bunch of bands doing covers of metallica songs. The worst moment was snoop dog doing sad but true. FUCK that was horrible. on a positive note sum 41 did a cool medley (guitarist dave bkash is a full on cocktard). This was a pleasant surprise.

I think if the metallica of 1885 met the metallica of 2005 they would cut their own fucking heads off.

Long story short. don't pay any attention to any of the establishments bullshit because it only gives them more power. And last time i checked rock 'n' roll was about telling the establishment to go fuck themselves

The most recognizable Van Halen song to the general American public is Jump, and it's David's trademark...without the DLR edge, the RNRHOF will continue to snub Van Halen, I feel.
          True.

But I think the turning point was 1996.

While a Roth reunion would more or less solidified a spot in the RNRHOF, because of all the soap opera BS and what came after it (VH3), Van Halen became a fucking joke.

I mean, it was always a joke post '86, but at least the name wasn't as tarnished as it became to be in '96 onward.

It's pathetic that Alice Cooper isn't in the HOF, and never even gets nominated. The original band alone, had enough classic material to merit induction.

Mellencamp, Miles among Rock Hall contenders

              By Barry A. Jeckell
Tue Sep 20, 6:17 PM ET

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Rock veteran John Mellencamp, jazz legend Miles Davis and rap pioneers Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five are among the 15 acts being considered for the 21st class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. Artists are eligible 25 years after the release of their first record.

The field of artists making up this year's ballot is rounded out by Blondie, Cat Stevens, the Patti Smith Group, the Sex Pistols, the Stooges, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, the Dave Clark Five, the J. Geils Band, Chic, Joe Tex and the Sir Douglas Quintet.

Inductees are selected by a panel of musicians, music industry professionals and journalists. Results are generally announced before the end of the year, with formal induction traditionally taking place in March at a ceremony in New York.

This year, inductees included Buddy Guy, the O'Jays, the Pretenders, Percy Sledge and U2. Highlights of the ceremony at New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel were broadcast by VH1.

The fact is that Van Halen is seen as a joke, and they are at this point.
They don't get inducted because everyone knows it will create a shit storm the media will eat up and the Hall would become sort of the punchline to it all.

They don't want that, though i'd like to see it happen Big Time.

Ed used to insult fans that "Took them too seriously"...Well, Ed, Nobody takes you or the Legacy seriously anymore, hows it feel?

I'm just glad that they finally imploded without Dave in front and i still hope against all hope that Dave never graces their material again.

Through all these years the one thing that has pissed me off more than anything was how people flocked to see Ed without Roth.
It created sales and continued success that everyone mistakes for Spammy's work with them, and that just isn't the case.

Ed Heads are responsible for this massive lie that Spam brought anything worthwhile to the band, he didn't, not a damn thing was brought by Spammy that wasn't manufactured by Dave.

Spammy bought Daves used car in a sense, Van Halen became second hand trash that was in dire need of a tune-up that never came.
But it still ran, and that's all the brothers wanted from the Ched Rocker.

The only thing that could bring me any new Van Pleasure happened last year when we all saw Ed self destruct show after show.

I got my long awaited closure when Van Hagar came out and fell flat on their faces.
And every tool that claims they saw a good show last year widens my grin that much more.

If you want real Rock and Roll today, go see an original band in a club because that is the only place OUR music is still breathing.

I don't need the corporate establishment to tell me what was kick ass and what wasn't...I have ears and a mind of my own thank you...

You know what's funny about all of this? For years Ed kept saying how when they "got in" to the RRHOF in like "five years from now" how he'd be cordial to Dave, bleh, blah, blechhh...

I mean, they were a sure thing for years. Then '96 happened. LMAO!!!

Dave still has, does and will ALWAYS have that shadow on them. All throughout Van Hagar's shit, Dave was ALWAYS brought up constantly interview-wise. The public will always wanna see a Dave/Eddie reunion. The RRHOF KNOWS THAT!!!

                    Eat THAT and Smile!!!

                    Oh and Ed, tis' true...

You're a guitar hero man, no one wants to see you play keyboards!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Hagar sharing the spotlight and finger-banging Michael Anthony whilst yappin' off at the mouth about "Right Now" doesn't mean shit to anyone.

Bitter pricklings and their recognition suffers cos of it.

Dave would say "Look at all the people here tonight!!!" and the crowd would LOVE it!!!

What's pathetic tis' the sisters would act like it's embarrassing as opposed to Hagar standing, let alone singing along side them.

LMMFAO, I believe '96 was the final nail in the coffin, Max.

Nobody wants to touch them anymore and it's all Ed's fault for thinking his shit didn't stink.

Well the cheeks have spread and it smells like Van Hagar.

Would-be Professors of Pop regulating the Canon of Rock'n'Roll. What a conflict in terms, eh?
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

there is dynamite (VH-sisters) and fire (DLR) and it's not easy to bring these two things together without causing damages...
